We have immediate openings for developing and career level Structural Engineers. Prefer rotating or turbomachinery experience with ANSYS software proficiency. Requires U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain/maintain security clearance. GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: The developing structural engineer will be responsible for the structural design and analysis of new or upgraded turbomachinery hardware, focused on stress, vibration, and life analyses. Through physics based finite element analysis and classical hand calculations, the structural engineer will analyze complex components and assemblies exposed to extreme loading and temperature environments. Working in an interdisciplinary team, the engineer will evolve the design based on these results to meet all requirements. Specific responsibilities include assisting teams with analytical calculations and design support, ensuring that structural analysis is accurate and documented properly. Engineers will be provided with mentoring and guidance from world class turbomachinery engineers. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Uses classical hand calculations along with computer finite element analyses to evaluate conceptual, preliminary, and final structural evaluation of turbomachinery components and assemblies. * Utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) to modify geometry and finite element analysis codes for analytical model building and structural analyses. Ansys FE software experience a plus. * Conducts structural feasibility studies and testing on new and modified aircraft system designs. * Documents analytical results through formal engineering reports. * Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. * Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. * Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Builds productive internal/external working relationships. * Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. * Other job duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS: * Educational awareness and developing ability to apply engineering and physics principals. * Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the assigned duties, including computer skills. * Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements. * Communicate and interact effectively with peers, supervisors, and public, including maintaining respect for others, and following company policies. * Have a willingness and ability to learn and utilize company technology for company required purposes, including, for example training, reviewing, and signing policies and procedures, benefits enrollment, and changes, and more. * Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. * Ability to maintain knowledge, skills, and abilities as it pertains to your job. * Ability to obtain/maintain security clearance. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * BS/MS/PHD in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering, with 2 plus years' experience preferably in turbomachinery and/or rocket engine component computer aided analysis. Proficiency with Ansys software preferred. * Ability to make internal technical presentations. * Excellent written and verbal communications skills. * Ability to work with coworkers to define and document requirements, address technical concerns, and provide task status. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Office and/or manufacturing environment. * Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. * Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, mouse, phones, rotating wrist, using tools/equipment).
