Position Overview
The Government Account Director (GAD) is a field-based position dedicated to managing the needs of the payer community by providing education and information to assist in the development/revision of coverage, access, and payment policies aligned with AGN payer strategies. The GAD primarily focuses on account management of government payer entities, including local Part A and Part B Medicare Carriers (MAC), DME MAC, and State FFS Medicaid. Additionally, the GAD assists the Corporate Account Management team on coverage policy initiatives with commercial account managers. 
 
Main Areas of Responsibilities 
  • The GAD is tasked with gaining appropriate payer access in Government channels for our Medical Benefit portfolio and priority Rx products.   
  • The GAD has a thorough understanding of the clinical and pharmacoeconomic data requirements and resource availability, coverage and payment personnel, and the unique considerations of injectable biologicals, new technologies process, in payer medical and pharmacy benefit plans. 
  • The GAD provides strategic insight and is involved in the account planning process, works with the MSL to deliver appropriate Redlines and comments as necessitated by the Account Managers Strategies
  • Identification, development and support of physician advocates interested in working with payers in the development of coverage and payment policies that support appropriate physician use and patient access to treatment with Allergan FDA approved products.  
  • This position requires close coordination with many internal Allergan groups (Reimbursement Strategy Teams, Corporate Accounts, State Government Affairs, Provider Reimbursement Account Managers, Payer Marketing. MWE,MSL Team)

Northeast territory includes Novitas and NGS (MACs), and the States of MA, NY, PA, IL, TX, NM, OK.

Experience:
  • Positive Past performance (annual reviews etc.)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of job requirements
  • Live within the Geography and willing to travel 50%
  • Ability to adapt to new roles and changing environment both internally and externally
  • Account Management Experience in Medicaid and MAC channels
  • Commercial Policy development and access experience
  • Demonstrated coding and reimbursement acumen
  • Leadership, communication and presentation skills

Education:

  • 4 year College Degree required
