JOB SUMMARY: Supports the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Alaska Tribal Justice Resource Center (ATJRC), which is a program that provides training and technical assistance (TTA) to Alaska Tribes on development and/or enhancement of their tribal justice systems. Provides TTA directly to Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Grantees and other Tribes in Alaska and assists with project needs assessments and planning, designing strategies, building program partnerships, and completing project reporting requirements.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work with Tribal Justice Manager to guide program planning with input from community leaders, project staff, and partners.
  2. Create and maintain processes for program delivery, including creating logistical and administrative processes for the program.
  3. Review all Grantees strategic plans, logic models, and timelines and meet with grantees monthly to problem-solve challenges and celebrate successes.
  4. Complete an assessment of training and technical assistance (TTA) needs of grantees/communities served.
  5. Work with program partners to ensure Grantees needs are met without duplication of efforts.
  6. Provide TTA including trainings, workshops, webinars, and information sessions.
  7. Complete site visits to provide local training for grantees/communities.
  8. Conduct recruitment, orientation, training, supervision, and evaluation of AmeriCorps member and/or interns and staff as appropriate.
  9. Work with Tribal Justice Manager to host team meetings.
  10. Submit regular progress reports and respond to requests for information on project activities.
  11. Participate in regular supervisory meetings and all required training.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned to support Community Development programs.


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Participate in all appropriate training functions.
  2. Network with other RurAL CAP staff, service providers, prevention organizations, and agency partners.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/JOB CONDITIONS:

  1. Agency is a mandated tobacco, drug, and alcohol-free workplace.

  4. Use computers and computer programs effectively.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to grasp, type, see, talk, hear, and lift and carry 35 pounds.
  2. Occasionally performs sedentary activities that require sitting for long periods.
  3. Must be in good general health and free from serious physical, mental health, and/or substance abuse problems.
  4. Regular travel to rural Alaska may be required.


POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or hours vary with location. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.



TRAVEL:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.



EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS AND REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. State and federal background checks may be required.
  3. BA/BS in tribal governance, tribal justice, program management, or related field plus one (1) year, or five (5) years equivalent education and work experience.
  4. Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement policies.
  5. Technical experience in coordinating projects.
  6. Excellent written and analytical skills.
  7. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services.
  8. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
  9. Working knowledge of rural Alaska.
  10. Ability to carry out job responsibilities in rural areas.
  11. Responsible work ethic with reliable attendance.
  12. Proven ability to be self-directed in problem solving.


PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Extensive knowledge of social, cultural, and economic conditions in rural Alaska.
  2. Extensive experience providing training and technical assistance for organizations or tribes.
