The Department of Human Services, Wernersville State Hospita ([ Link removed ] - Click here to apply to Food Service Worker 1 - Wernersville State Hospital l is seeking full-time Food Service Workers to be a part of our Dietary Team! If you enjoy working with food and people, we've got the job for you!


You will prepare and serve food items as well as perform cleaning duties in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and in compliance with applicable health and sanitation regulations. Duties include cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other kitchen items; preparing trays, measuring portions, serving food, and transporting trays, carts and nourishment; and using equipment such as mixers, dicers, slicers, knives, and grinders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • The Department of Human Services provides excellent benefits, pay increases, paid leave and holidays, as well as opportunities for career advancement.

  • Full-time employment.

  • Work hours are 1st shift (6:00 am to 2:00 pm) and 2nd shift (11:00 am to 7:00 pm), Sunday - Saturday.

  • Rotating days off, weekends and holidays as assigned.

  • Overtime: As needed.

  • May change based on operational needs.


  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

In compliance with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements, if you are selected for this position, you must show, at the time of hire, verification that you have received either a single-dose COVID-19 vaccination, or both doses of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccination,unlessyou are exempt from receiving a COVID-19 vaccination due to an ADA or religious accommodation. If you fail or refuse to show the required verification at the time of hire, and you have not received an exemption from the CMS vaccination requirements, your employment will be terminated.


Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • No previous experience and training required.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.

  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination.
