Engineer V - Test Conductor/Test Director

RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION -- JT4 is currently seeking experienced Flight Test Engineers to join our test team as a Test Director with multiple years' experience performing developmental test support for military aircraft. Candidate should have significant experience working in control rooms, reviewing test plans, writing test cards, safety plans, and scheduling range and aircraft assets.Duties and responsibilities of a Test Director (TD) include planning, test reporting and scheduling mission requirements for ground and flight test by developing and maintaining flight test support materials to include flight/ground test cards. Individual will determine and communicate aircraft test and configuration requirements to the responsible discipline engineering, maintenance and flight operations teams to ensure aircraft readiness. Additionally, the individual will conduct test missions from a control room. Individual will also perform test director duties after all qualification criteria have been met. Individual will lead the control room team, test mission briefings, and post flight debriefs. Individual will also become a Unit Test Safety Officer (UTSO), reviewing, editing, and signing off on flight test safety plans. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Overtime, non-standard shifts and weekend work may be required in order to support test schedules. Travel may be required as part of duties, up to 25% of scheduled work time. As a Flight Test Director, your typical day may include any of the following: Collaborating across a broad spectrum of individuals and disciplines. Developing plans for upcoming testing. Briefing and conducting ground and flight testing in a Mission Control Room (MCR) and debriefing the test team. Evaluating test results and working to resolve any issues encountered. Leading and implementing process improvements to increase test efficiency. Desired Skills:Above average and effective communication and coordination skills. Experience and understanding of control room conduct, principles of Situational Awareness and Crew Resource Management (CRM). Ability to interface with all levels of Combined Test Force (CTF) management to include Program Managers, Engineers, Test Conductors, and military personnel. Innovative mindset is an absolute plus for this opportunity. Airmanship skills (prior military flying as a Pilot, WSO, or FTE and/or FAA general aviation flying experience). Graduate of a recognized Test Pilot School (USAF TPS, Navy TPS, EPNER, ETPS, NTPS, etc.).

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE

- The incumbent must have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 14 years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited Master of Science in Engineering with at least 10 years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited doctoral degree in Engineering with at least 8 years of related engineering experience. The incumbent must possess a well-established, substantial, professional reputation in one or more of the principal technical disciplines of the Company. Must demonstrate the ability to direct senior technical personnel in project assignments involving research, development, integration, and sustainment of complex systems or processes. The incumbent must use superior communications skills, both verbal and written, in day-to-day project activities as well as in briefing customers and in writing reports and proposals. The incumbent must possess planning/organizing skills and have a working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools. Ranges supported by JT4 include the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR), the Space Test and Training Range (STTR) at Schriever Air Force Base, the Utah Test and Training Range (UTTR), the Air Force Test Center 412th Test Wing (412TW) at Edwards Air Force Base, and the Navy China Lake Ranges (CLR) including Pt. Mugu, California.

JT4 is supported by several teammate companies on the J-Tech II Contract. Together we develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments. We prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and air crews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
