We are currently seeking and immediate opportunity for an Environmental Planner (Planner) to support our established and growing business areas in California. This position will be located in the Tetra Tech Irvine, CA office and will work closely with staff located in other Tetra Tech offices in California and the Pacific Northwest.
The Planner will have the ability and experience to manage and support the permitting of complex projects in a dynamic work environment, have strong critical thinking capabilities, and have a flexible approach to problem solving. Excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written), planning, and organizational skills are required. Must have demonstrated writing abilities, competency with basic business computer applications (i.e., Microsoft Office), and possess the ability to act independently. This position requires a team-oriented professional with a strong attention to detail, and a proven commitment to quality management and client satisfaction.
The Planner should also have excellent client and public communication skills as the position requires frequent and effective interaction with clients, regulatory agencies, and the public. The ideal candidate will bring relevant experience and relationships to support business development activities. Responsibilities:
Preparing CEQA/NEPA documents and environmental regulatory permit applications
Managing projects and project personnel
- Interacting with clients
Environmental compliance construction monitoring
Overseeing habitat restoration and maintenance projects
About Tetra Tech:
BS/BA degree or higher in urban, regional or environmental land use planning, environmental sciences, environmental policy, environmental studies or a related field
Five-plus years of relevant professional experience and/or three-plus years of experience in the environmental consulting industry in California
Excellent writing and oral communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Physically able to occasionally hike carrying necessary field equipment to project locations
Strong computer skills with programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Experience and knowledge of NEPA, CEQA, and Federal and California environmental regulatory processes
Team player - ability to work well with others as well as independently
Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects with critical timelines
