The Home Building Group isactively searching for new Team Members to join the Maintenance department at our Middlebury, IN facility.

Position summary:

Perform the maintenance operations which are assigned to your team in conformance with requirements, specifications and preventive maintenance practices, in a timely manner, using safe work practices, and observing all applicable government laws and regulations and company rules.

The maintenance associate is responsible to complete all required tasks assigned. Experience in handy man functions, facility maintenance functions, grounds keeping maintenance, some mechanical functions that require the performing of designated tasks up to the fullest quality standard under time restrictions. Versatility and a willingness to work in various departments when it may be required.

Objectives:

Preventive Maintenance: Follow the Policy and Procedure for all equipment that requires preventive maintenance. There will be a scheduled program for implementation. The procedure is an outline of the required daily and monthly preventive maintenance requirements. When doing preventive maintenance on applicable machines lock out tag out procedures must be used, along with all other safe work practices.

General Maintenance: Repair all defective machinery, tools and vehicles as assigned by Team Lead or PM.

Grounds Maintenance: Maintains the outside area of the facility, as assigned by Team Lead or PM. This could include grass mowing, trash pickup, and weeding.

Responsibility: Serve as a good steward of our company’s physical assets, protecting them from damage and misuse, reporting all identified misuse to your supervisor, keeping your assigned area clean, and orderly. Strive to use only the material that you need and plan to make the most out of that material. Keep all tools in good working order not using them in a manner that they are not built for.

Planning: Assists the Team Leader to plan and organize the maintenance activities in your team by communicating anticipated changes required, material shortages, machine and tool maintenance, and identifying observed mechanical/maintenance problems. Create a safe and productive work environment while meeting all manufacturing and quality standards the company has set for each team.

Quality: The work in the maintenance department must conform to manufactures specifications, applicable codes, plans, and our manufacturing needs. You must perform quality work as a basic requirement of your job. Cooperate with the manufacturing staff, understanding their production schedule needs.

Safety: The objective is to avoid injuries not only for yourself, but also for the associates around you. Must recognize and detect unsafe acts and refrain from these activities. Recognize unsafe conditions and report them as soon as possible for their correction. Will observe all relevant OSHA and environmental regulations. Aggressively pursue the continuous improvement of safety.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Numerous and varied handyman skills
  • Ability to lift/maneuver heavy objects (100 lbs.)
  • The endurance to perform strenuous tasks
  • The ability to safely climb ladders
  • Must not be afraid of heights
  • The ability to work in all environments (extreme heat/cold, rain/snow)
  • Strong customer relations skills
  • Basic knowledge of wiring/wiring codes
  • Respectful of electrical risks and safety precautions
  • Good organizational skills and problem-solving skills
  • Has high integrity in complying with codes and quality standards
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Must be self-motivated and demonstrates necessary urgency to maintain production pace
