Senior Traffic Engineer/Project Manager

ATCS, PLC Herndon, VA (On Site) Full-Time
ATCS is rapidly growing! We are seeking a Senior Traffic Engineering/ Project Manager to join our team! This is an exciting opportunity to help support and shape our Traffic Engineering group in Herndon, Virginia. The diversity of responsibilities requires a flexible mindset and cooperative team-oriented attitude with progressively increasing management capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Daily duties include project design, task management, project management, staff mentorship and quality control of traffic engineering and planning projects.
  • Routinely interact and present to a variety of clients ranging from private companies and cities to Departments of Transportation, independently and as part of a team
  • Participate in project/contracting scoping, fee development, contract negotiations, and execution
  • Mentor and educate staff regarding leading-edge traffic engineering and planning principles and techniques to improve the efficiency, reliability, resilience and safety of transportation systems
  • Analyze and document findings in technical memos, project reports and research summaries
  • Lead and mentor staff utilizing Excel, Synchro, Sidra, VISSIM, HSM, ISATe, Cube and additional software related to traffic engineering and planning
  • Lead the preparation traffic design plans using Microstation or AutoCAD
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a civil engineering or relevant field required
  • PE in traffic engineering is required
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience managing tasks, projects, and/or staff is required
  • Ability to complete assignments with high quality, on time, and within budget
  • Must have self-initiative to solve problems and to keep up to date on the latest innovations in traffic engineering
  • Ability to seamlessly juggle between competing projects and priorities
  • Must demonstrate technical professional competency in traffic engineering and transportation planning as it relates to the safety, planning, engineering, design, and operational needs of transportation systems
Additional Requirements
  • Multi-modal planning, Design, or ITS Technology experience is a plus
  • Experience with safety analysis techniques preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microstation and AutoCAD design software packages preferred
  • Experience in multiple types off traffic studies, development of microsimulation networks and analysis of transportation data sets desired
