Our Energy Group at CEI builds projects from the field to the grid. Whether it’s a solar, battery storage, substation, EV charging, microgrid, gas pipes or converter station project, our skilled project managers, engineers and field employees deliver when it matters most. We are offering this exciting opportunity to join the Distributed Generation Division within our Energy Group working on complex construction projects, leveraging your Project Management experience.

The Project Manager will be responsible for assisting Sr. Project Managers, Program Managers or Executives with major Investor Owned Utilities, including building and maintaining effective relationships with key customers, partners, vendors, subcontractors and craft persons and managing projects to meet financial goals and customer objectives.

Essential Functions:

  • Support safety culture as a management champion, sponsor project team safety training and development
  • Provide in-house support to project managers for change orders, expediting logs, RFI logs, etc. when personnel are available
  • Ongoing training and development. Maintain a record of experience, training and project performance for each project engineer and project coordinator
  • Coordinate duties of project engineers and project coordinators with project managers and jobsite general foreman/foreman
  • Manage project schedule, productivity, resource loading, change orders and billing
  • Communicating with the general public about work activities and clearances
  • Ensure project engineers and project coordinators have a clear definition of their assigned duties and the necessary tools and information to do the job
  • Pre-field visits to work locations as required

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • 3 -5 years of project management or engineering experience in gas transmission
  • Understanding of utility contract models (unit, T&E, etc.)
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local, ordinances, utility standards, codes and regulations applicable Northern California
  • Highly driven, solution-oriented attitude with a commitment to achieving results
  • Strong understanding of project cost accounting and productivity tracking and reporting
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook)
  • Proficiency in schedule creation and maintenance in Microsoft Project and P6
  • Working experience with Oracle Unifier and JD Edwards is highly desirable
  • Able to demonstrate strong written and analytical skills, accompanied by excellent oral communication and organizational skills
  • CAPM or PMP are desirable, but not required
  • High School diploma. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering or similar preferred
