A Major Dayton Hospital is seeking a Linen Distribution Attendant Location: MVH North Linen Distribution Services Shift: varies between 1st and 2nd shift.. Start Date: Immediately
•Some linen/laundry experience preferred. Will train. Responsible for transport and delivery of clean linen exchange carts throughout the facility, both scheduled and upon request. Responsible for collection of soiled linen from designated areas of the facility. Utilizes electric tow tugger for transport where feasible. Stocks and replenishes clean linen carts to predetermined specifications as assigned and/or upon request. Helps to maintain a clean environment within clean linen staging areas, clean storage room(s) and soiled linen chute rooms. Maintains positive customer relations with end-users, patients, and families per Premier Health and the Linen Distribution department???s customer services standards. Works independently while applying time management principals to daily workflow. Must be able to proficiently speak and write in English, and perform standard mathematical calculations. Position may require that the applicant be on their feet, walking or standing for long periods of time.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school graduate or equivalent Experience: Knowledge in laundry production preferred. Skills/Other: Physical strength for such activities as moving equipment, lifting etc. to a maximum of 450 lbs. Good organizational skills and the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, excellent communications skills and the ability to work under occasionally stressful conditions which can occur due to the work load. Math and Reading skills are required DIMENSION/SCOPE The Linen Distribution Attendant is responsible for transporting and distributing clean linen exchange carts and carts of clean linen throughout the facility. He / she will also remove all soiled linen from soiled linen collection areas. The Linen Distribution Attendant transports carts by electric tow tugger where feasible. In addition, the Aide should report to work punctually and maintains satisfactory attendance record according to hospital policy, makes organized use of time, obtains approval for overtime, adheres to requested deadlines, complies with hospital and departmental policies regarding appearance and conduct, reports faulty, damaged or lost equipment or property to appropriate person or department, assists in orientation of new personal as assigned, receptive to change in work schedule and promotes a quiet, clean and safe working environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS Strength: Ability to push/pull carts weighing up to 700 pounds down corridor to nursing units. Ability to lift bags of soiled linen weighing approximately 30 ??? 40 pounds. Stooping/bending: Bending the body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles. Stooping by bending knees to place linen on bottom of carts. Reaching: Extending the hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Handling: Seizing, holding linen and plastic bags. Fingers are involved to the extent that they are an extension of the hand. Talking: Expressing ideas by means of spoken words to impart oral information to clients in the English language. Hearing: Perceiving sounds due to operating tow tugger and anticipating persons entering hallways. Vision: Clarity of vision at 40 feet due to tow tugger operation.
