A successful company is seeking a Controller through Robert Half Finance to take responsibility for its accounting and clerical department. The full-time Controller position is situated in the Atlanta, Georgia area. You will succeed in this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. If you can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, and are a creative type who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo, you might be right for this position. Key responsibilities

- Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

- Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management

- Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

- Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

- Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

- Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

- Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

- Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations

- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

- Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

- Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

- The ideal candidate will be highly-skilled with exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills

- Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

- Be detailed, flexible, and organized

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

- Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

- Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- CPA/MBA preferred

- Month end closings experience

- Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

- Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
