Description

STV seeks an experienced Project Manager with a background in rail vehicle projects to join the Vehicles/Systems Engineering team, as a part of The Centers of Excellence, in our Washington or Baltimore office. The right professional will work with our clients in the procurement and support of the next generation of transit cars, commuter rail locomotives, passenger coaches and their maintenance and operation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leading key client relationships and day-to-day activities to support procurement of rail vehicle fleets.
  • Support coordination of resources to ensure timely and cost-effective execution of project tasks.
  • Provide management of scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Preparation of internal and external project correspondence.
  • Tracking of open action items, assigning duties and tasks to team members, reviewing, and monitoring the project progress, and participating in meetings with clients and teams.
  • Prepare and perform continued maintenance, updating, and tracking of various project activities and reports.
  • Identify and document project issues and risks and monitor progress of mitigation actions.
  • Successfully establish and maintain effective relationships with internal resources and external resources involved in project tasks.
  • Develop and maintain required project management records in accordance with STV and client standards.
  • Identify efficiencies and recommend process improvements to reduce costs and add value.
  • Participate in client and contractor site visits.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on collaboration with clients and other stakeholders outside of technical engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of passenger rail vehicles and their subsystems.
  • An engineering degree and engineering experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Candidates must hold ABET accredited four-year bachelor’s degrees in a relevant field.
  • Candidates must be willing to undertake a wide variety of tasks and activities, demonstrate flexibility and a desire for a wide range of engineering experiences.
  • Travel requirements can be up to 25% time for intermittent short periods, with most of the travel being same day trips to our client’s sites.
  • A strong desire to work on large multi-disciplinary rail projects with fast paced schedules which require creative thinking and innovative problem-solving skills.

Experience:

  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate a track record of satisfying client needs and the ability to operate autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Ideal candidates will have at least 15 years of industry experience with at least five years recent experience in a position which involved project management in a transit or passenger railroad agency environment or a car builder or with a major subsystem supplier.

Compensation Range:

$146,755.00 - $195,674.00
