Eaton’s Fuel and Motion Control division within our Aerospace sector is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineering Specialist to join our team. This position can be based at one of the following facilities: Grand Rapids, MI, North Charleston, SC, Irvine, CA, Euclid, OH, Fort Worth, TX, Los Angeles, CA, or Jackson, MS. Position Overview: This position has the principal goal of generating new and innovative design solutions for linear and rotary electromechanical actuators in the Aerospace Industry. This includes developing complex mechanical concepts to answer customer proposal requests then maturing said designs using rigorous requirements management, structural analysis, and 3D modeling. In this function you will: Leads the mechanical development of complex actuator designs to meet the increasing industry demands for more-electric-aircraft Review and conduct computer based FEA & FMEA analysis on new products to ensure their integrity and use the results to modify designs Present concepts and analysis to senior level management. Participate and/or lead ideation events (Innovation Summits, Design Bursts, etc.) Creates their own strategy, direction, priorities and develops constructive solutions aligning to business needs Coordinates multi-disciplined engineering projects from design to implementation and serves as an expert resource for other engineers Reviews project deliverables to ensure its accuracy and co-ordinate with engineering teams. Has in depth knowledge of Division goals and strategies and drives business objectives / improvements impacting division-wide measures Initiates and develops solid relationships with both engineering and business leaders within Eaton to drive strong business cases for new commercial applications and acquire needed resources and funding Serves as a subject matter expert externally and internally. This includes leadership/active participation in external industry and technical groups, mentoring junior level staff and consulting internal business and engineering partners Actively contributes to and guides team members on IP generation Creates, or makes updates to current, engineering processes Other duties as assigned When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution Minimum of seven (7) years’ engineering experience Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in modeling and design or product development using CAD tools Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now and in the future This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates who currently reside within a 50-mile radius of the Grand Rapids MI, North Charleston, SC, Irvine, CA, Euclid, OH, Forth Worth, TX, Los Angeles, CA, or Jackson, MS facilties will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. This is a hybrid position under our flexible working model, where employees can work partly onsite in Grand Rapids and partly from a home office.
