Job Summary

Bowdoin College is located in Brunswick Maine with a student population of almost 2000. We make everything from scratch and consistently rated in the top 10 for college dining! We have our own butcher shop, bakeshop and organic garden that all supply food to our 2 dining halls and 3 retail locations.

This position supports our Catering department. Under supervision of the Culinary Manager, Operations Manager and Catering Supervisor provides organizational support for the successful execution of Dining catering events. Acts as team leader, responsible for events logistical and waitstaff support, transportation and set up of food, beverages and equipment for catering events. Acts as dining contact and service provider during catering functions. Depending on event assignment, this position may assist to receive daily orders and support the sanitation staff.

• This position offers a $500 sign-on bonus ($250 on first paycheck and $250 after 90 days).

• Hourly range for this position is expected to be: Minimum $19.75 – Maximum $20.00/ per hour ((This role is eligible for overtime and shift differential)

• This position will require a criminal background check and pre-employment physical

Education/Skills Requirements

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Demonstrated reliability and ability to work quickly and efficiently.

• Must be able to work independently within a team atmosphere and establish own work plan and priorities to meet frequent deadlines

• Must demonstrate good personal hygiene practices

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

Required:

• A valid Driver’s License and the ability to meet the eligibility requirements of the College’s current Motor Vehicle Use Policy.

• 2-5 years of food industry service background or related in customer service

• Serve Safe Certification

• Preferred:

• Supervisory experience or demonstrated potential.

• Responsible Serving Alcohol certification preferred (Must be obtained within one year of employment. Training will be covered by the college).

Standard Work Days and Hours

• Schedule – First shift, Sunday – Thursday, Friday, (6 am – 2 pm)

• The role will be required to work occasional overtime, holidays, and during weather emergencies, in addition to working major college events and weekends (i.e., Parent’s Weekend, Commencement, and Reunions).

• This position is a full-time year round position working 40 hours/week for 52 weeks (1.00 FTE )
