care Team Associate - Clinical: Progressive care - Nights

University of Missouri System Columbia, MO (Onsite) Full-Time
Shift: Nights with rotating weekends (32 hrs per week)

Job Summary:

Assist nursing staff in providing direct patient care from the admission process, to activities of daily living (ADL's) through patient transfer and discharge.

Detailed Description:

Responsible for prompt response to patient call lights and addressing patient needs using positive guest relations skills while ensuring patient vital signs, intake, output, height and weight are obtained and documented as directed.

Perform patient position changes, placement and removal of patient equipment, daily hygiene care, simple non-sterile dressing changes, finger stick glucose checks, maintains quality control checks and delivers/retrieves lab specimens and supplies as requested.

Assist nursing staff /ancillary staff in the transfer of patients from bed to bed, stretcher or wheelchair, pickup and delivery of patient meal trays and assisting with patient feeding as directed.

Demonstrate the ability to organize workload and manage multiple tasks while maintaining a clutter free and orderly environment including prompt answering of unit telephones and accurate delivery of messages and information to patients, families, visitors, staff and personnel upon request.

Processing physician orders including review and assistance with computerized order entry; maintaining census records, reports, admission/discharges in computerized bed management system; assist in coordination of emergencies and codes, etc.

Educate and train new staff members in the responsibilities of the Care Team Associate role.

Perform other duties as delegated by nursing staff and unit management as needed in both routine and emergent situations.

Required Qualifications:

Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired and;

Requires current enrollment in a professional or practical nursing education program, that has or will be completed within ninety (90) days a fundamentals of nursing course; or

Was a professional nursing or practical nursing licensure candidate who failed to pass the state licensure examinations in the past three (3) years; or

Is a certified nursing assistant within the State of Missouri; or

Has documented experience as a nursing assistant, emergency medical technician or surgical technician in the past three (3) years; or

Has proof of completion of unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) training program in Missouri or another state which meets the requirements of this rule within the last three (3) years; or must successfully complete the UAP training program within ninety (90) days of employment in this job title.

Has completed a professional or licensed practical nursing program outside the United States and is awaiting the licensure examination in this country.

Requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Requires strong customer service and team orientation.
