As an Accounting Manager, you'll work with an elite team of accounting and finance professionals who are writing the history of our organization and guiding our success as a global industry leader. This role will have direct reports. Primary ResponsibilitiesLead the month end and quarter end close process for the Specialty Pharmacy business of OptumRxPerform higher level accounting functions such as intercompany and eliminationsPerform monthly close analysis to facilitate understanding of monthly results against the financial plan by coordinating with multiple finance leads Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretationsPrepare documentation in support of external and internal auditsPerforms work in a self-directed manner and works with less structured, more complex issuesDevelop innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectivenessProvide leadership on projects and initiatives to improve the accounting and finance functionInterface with business leaders and build relationship in support of Specialty pharmacy accountingServe as a resource and mentor to other staff
Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field5+ years of professional accounting experience Advanced level of proficiency with MS Excel, MS Office product suiteAdvanced level of understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, financial statements and intercompany transactionsPreferred QualificationsPublic accounting experience Project management or process improvement experience3+ years of supervisory experienceMBA or CPAPBM or Healthcare experienceOracle, Hyperion Essbase, PeopleSoft financials Advanced written and oral communication skillsAbility to work in a matrix environment while positively influencing other functional areasUnitedHealth Group is working to create the health care system of tomorrow.
