The Writer|Editor will provide executive-level communication support to the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) by primarily translating intelligence products into language that is easy to read and understand; writing news stories that highlight new and innovative techniques and tradecraft employed by FBI personnel and law enforcement officials; and, supporting events and engagements. The Writer|Editor will have a strong background in executive communications, internal communications, and external communications. The Writer|Editor will be internal communication professional with demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, high visibility, executive-level written communications program. Critical skills for success in this position include organizational and situational awareness and abilities to manage multiple projects with competing priorities in unpredictable situations; build and maintain collaborative working relationships among internal stakeholders; function as a member of a diverse team; and streamline business processes. The Writer|Editor will have experience with developing content for multiple mediums of communication (video, webpages, and newsletters) and has worked with senior executives to develop and execute an internal communication plan. The Writer|Editor will perform the following tasks, but is not limited to: • Research, analyze, coordinate, and prepare for distribution of a variety of material and information at a suitable level for the intended audience that supports the mission, activities, and initiatives of the FBI. • Plan, edit, design, and write content for a variety of internal communications media, such as a staff intranet, meeting presentations, regular newsletters, periodic email updates, and videos. • Provide guidance on style, format, grammar, and spelling for all outgoing FBI correspondences, final reports, intranet materials, presentations, and other products prior to printing and distribution. • Provide coordination and expertise on agency-wide communication issues such as those involving the intranet content and agency-wide messaging. • Develop and execute an internal communications plan and strategy that effectively keeps employees across the agency engaged and informed on the priorities of the FBI, the Executive Assistant Directors, and Assistant Directors. • Develop and enhance communications utilizing multiple media formats; plan and execute internal communications events; and develop and execute strategies to build community across the agency. Job Requirements:
• Must possess a Top Secret Security Clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Eligibility.
• Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as English Literature, Mass Communications, Writing, Journalism, History, or Liberal Arts. A minimum of three years of specialized experience that is in or directly related to the line of work of the position applied may be substituted for education. • Must have strong analytical, organizational, and research skills.
• Most have exceptional communication skills, in writing, speaking, and presentation.
• Must have the ability to work independently and with a team.
