The Field Engineer- PV and Energy Storage Position

Sunnova Energy Corporation is currently searching for a PV + Storage Engineer based in Hawaii. Hawaii is a growing market for solar with energy storage and our company is playing a key role in the energetic transformation of the island through solar and energy storage systems. The PV Storage Engineer’s primary responsibility is to ensure that Sunnova’s dealers meet with our company’s quality standards and any applicable codes on their installations by providing support on the design, installation, commissioning and troubleshooting for solar with energy storage systems. This role works remotely from the manager and must be able to work independently with limited oversight from the manager.

Responsibilities
  • Develop positive and professional relationships with all dealers and service providers; assist dealers and provide training with the design, installation, commissioning and troubleshooting for solar and solar with energy storage systems.
  • Responsible for evaluation of and the continuous development and improvement on our dealers’ designs and methods of installations to ensure the best customer experience and low cost of ownership under Sunnova’s warranty terms.
  • Perform quality assurance inspections, documenting corrective actions, and ensuring completion of corrective items within reasonable timelines.
  • Collaborate closely with dealers, internal technical teams, and manufactures to resolve technical issues; provide post-installation support to our dealers for storage installations.
  • Assist Sunnova’s Account Manager on sales team’s trainings as needed and provide technical support to sales and operations teams.
  • Understand system issues as identified by Sunnova O&M and dealer maintenance teams. Use this knowledge to create preventative measures for new installs.
  • Analyze commissioning and reasons for final design and assessment rejections. Communicate these results on a regular basis with dealers and work with them directly to lower rejection rates.
  • Document key communications using appropriate Sunnova software.
  • Evaluate new technologies for possible adoption by Sunnova
  • Assist in creation of engineering documents and dealer interfacing documents for any new technology which Sunnova plans to add to their approved vendor list
  • Any other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
  • Must possess a current, valid Driver license.
  • 3+ years in the Solar Electric Industry preferred.
  • Ability to travel nationally & internationally as needed
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Vast Knowledge of electronics and is comfortable working in many different work environments; keen understanding of technology integration with existing electrical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to make reports based on findings.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot PV and energy storage systems and their electrical components to ensure proper system performance.
  • Ability to create strategy based on goals and initiatives
  • Project a professional appearance and maintain strong organizational skills.
