Overview The Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) directs the worldwide overseas building program for the U.S
Department of State
Working with other offices and bureaus, foreign affairs agencies, and Congress, OBO sets worldwide priorities for the design, construction, acquisition, maintenance, use, and sale of real properties and the use of sales proceeds
As the single real property manager for the U.S
government's diplomatic facilities overseas, OBO's portfolio spans 285 worldwide missions and over 80,000,000 square feet of functioning property
OBO's primary mission is to provide safe, secure, and functional facilities that represent the U.S
government to the host nation and support the Department's staff as they work to achieve U.S
foreign policy objectives abroad
The Program Development, Coordination, and Support Directorate (PDCS) is responsible for the design, coordination, and management of OBO's construction and renovation programs
The Office of Design and Engineering (DE) provides expertise in architecture; landscape architecture; space programming; space planning; interior design; graphic design; sustainability; civil, structural, seismic, blast, geotechnical, electrical, and mechanical engineering; energy; telecommunications; and security
Working with Planning and Real Estate, DE develops the Space Requirements Programs (SRP) which serves as the basis of design for all projects
DE also coordinates the design of OBO's building program, managing designs from planning through construction
DE monitors the performance of architecture-engineering contractors hired to execute OBO's projects
The office serves as the building code official, confirms the technical adequacy of construction documents, and issues building permits
The Energy group (NRG) provides multidisciplinary expertise for high performance buildings, planning, design, engineering, construction, utility management, and maintenance of OBO projects
This requirement will support the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations, Program Development, Coordination and Support Directorate, Office of Design and Engineering, Interior Design Division (OBO/PDCS/DE/ID)
Responsibilities The Project Coordinator is responsible for providing and directing expert planning, scheduling, and analyses in all phases of project planning and execution
The contractor performs tasks and assignments that include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
• Develops a schedule for furniture procurement and delivery with the Project Interior Designer for each project.
* Works with Interior Design Procurement and Logistics staff to ensure furniture packages and procurement activities are on schedule for each project.
* Ensures furniture procurement activities for Controlled Access Area (CAA) furniture are procured in accordance with security requirements.
* Communicates and coordinates with the construction contractor for each furniture project, to develop schedule for submittal reviews and final deliverables.
* Updates and maintains US Government specification for systems and freestanding furniture shipping and installation.
* Communicates and coordinates with the construction contractor's furniture installation team to ensure required delivery is met.
* Maintains list of required documents (bills of material + project record books + installation drawings) provided by the Interior Designer.
* Maintains Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for furniture procurement
* Maintains Project Status Report and global schedule for all furniture procurement activities in
* Conducts scheduled weekly status check-in with all designers and procurement
* Flags issues for follow-up and reports potential problems and discrepancies to ID Division
* Assures that Project Schedules reflect accurate and complete scope, schedule milestones, and conform to established templates.
* Prepares periodic and written reports in specified formats for such
* Prepares weekly briefings to ID Division Chief on
* Keeps the COR and ID Division Chief informed of all major issues and
* Performs additional assignments, studies, and special projects at the direction of the supervisor to include:
* Assists the Office Director in identifying available resources for the planning and execution of project efforts.
* Develops improvements in planning and scheduling and monitors progress and results whether performed in-house or by contract.
* Serves as a Project/Program Coordinator with the responsibility for evaluating, planning, and developing forecasts of time and resources needed for design and engineering Based on these factors, and in consideration of other assigned programs and projects in process and projected, develops optimum assignment and completion schedules
Qualifications
• United States
* Experience in advanced planning and scheduling methodologies in a construction management arena and their application to engineering programs and project management principles
* Experience using Microsoft Project and Oracle Primavera 6; Systems Analysis; Tiered Scheduling; resource loading/leveling; and performance management analysis.
* At least three years of experience as a Project Coordinator/Scheduler and must have knowledge of principles, and practices of construction, architecture, and engineering that enable the contractor to serve as an expert in project scheduling.
* Project Coordinator - six (6) years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in a related field, or eight (8) years of related experience.
