Under general supervision with broad scope of responsibility, performs activities related to the design, testing and evaluation of coating, fryer, cooking or freezing equipment for use in demanding, year-round operating industrial food processing plants. The design work will focus on the unique needs of the Customer Care (CC) business, including, but not limited to the below duties.



Responsibilities

  • kit development, CC design inquiries/custom solutions, part refreshments and sourcing. Interfaces with a cross functional CC team (Sustaining Engineering, Service, Sales, Sourcing, etc.) and customers to define needs for new or custom features to be developed.
  • May prepare mechanical engineering studies, specifications and cost estimations.
  • Performs state of the art product development activities, including CAD layouts and designs and the implementation of customer specifications.
  • Assists, in some cases working directly with new equipment and Sustaining Engineering design engineers, with the solving of unique, mechanically related field problems.
  • Provides creative solutions to reasonably complex mechanical problems and designs, tests and debugs all the appropriate developments and customer applications.
  • Works with manufacturing, sourcing, purchasing and suppliers to optimize the cost/value relationship of the mechanical systems being designed.



Qualifications



EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience.
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices, machine design, and heat transfer.

 TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • Must be effective in dealing with a variety of personality styles, especially when under tight time constraints.
  • Must possess ability to multi-task and thrive in a change-oriented, fast-paced environment where schedules, deadlines, and customer demands and shift priorities.
  • Exposure to Lean and continuous improvement practices preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Can independently search for technical information.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries from internal and external customers in a proficient and professional manner.
  • Ability to write clear product specifications, project development plans and other forms of written correspondence.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts, up to and including Calculus, to accomplish job tasks and analysis. Must be capable of using spreadsheets.


PLATFORM, DATABASE AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED:

  • Requires knowledge in using a computer to generate product information and drawings (AutoCAD knowledge preferred, PTC Creo and AutoDesk Inventor a plus) which are used in the manufacturing process of JBT products.
  • These CAD programs are also used to assist customer’s maintenance applications, and to provide additional clarity and insight for sales and marketing staff.
  • Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel knowledge required.
