Designer Trainee

The Designer Trainee is an entry-level position with course study and one-on-one instruction tailored to give the candidate industry knowledge and hands-on experience with the design software.  The candidate is expected to participate in an 8-week instructional course at our learning center in Pennsylvania where they will reside in an extended stay accommodation.  Upon completion of the 8-week introductory training course, the candidate returns to their home facility where they become a contributing member of the design team.   Through continuing education under the supervision of the design manager along with self-study courses, the Designer Trainee is encouraged to experience all aspects of the industry, giving them the necessary tools to test for promotions to Level I, II, III and senior design positions.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Read architectural prints to create roof and floor truss placement layouts conforming to current 84 Components design practices.
  • Design of roof and floor trusses in engineering software ensuring designs are accurate, optimized, and conforms to the current P&P.
  • Specify all necessary supplied hardware.
  • Maintain complete and updated Job Tracking Sheets.
  • Send approval letter to customers according to P&P procedures when necessary.
  • Provide sales and customer support when necessary.
  • Ensure office and plan are maintained in a neat and orderly fashion and all plans are logged properly.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested by supervisor(s).
