Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)
Location: Chicago, IL
Experience - 10 + Year
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle database software and related products (e.g., Oracle Grid Infrastructure, Oracle Real Application Clusters).
- Create and manage Oracle databases, including database creation, configuration, backup, recovery, and maintenance activities.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning, memory management, and storage management.
- Implement and enforce database security measures, such as user access controls, data encryption, and auditing.
- Develop and implement database backup and recovery strategies, including performing regular backups and testing disaster recovery procedures.
- Participate in database capacity planning, growth projections, and resource allocation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, errors, and performance bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with application development teams to ensure optimal database design and integration with applications.
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior DBAs, developers, and other stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Oracle database releases, features, and best practices.
- Document database configurations, procedures, and processes for knowledge transfer and compliance purposes.
- Solid understanding of Oracle database architecture, components, and administration tools (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL*Plus, RMAN).
- Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL programming languages.
- Knowledge of database backup and recovery techniques, including RMAN and Data Guard.
- Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and database security best practices.
- Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Linux, Unix, Windows) and storage technologies related to Oracle databases.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills for working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Oracle Certification(s) (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional) are highly preferred.
