POSITION TITLE: Manager, Income Tax The role of the Income Tax Manager is to save federal, state, and local income tax dollars for the organization through both planning and audit activities while complying with the tax laws. Serve as a tax advisor to other departments by performing tax research and calculations related to employee benefits, compensation, and employment tax ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Income Tax Compliance ? Review and file the US federal, international, state, and local tax returns, coordinating and supervising the work of other department members and consultants involved in preparation of parts of these returns and payment of tax. Obtain essential accounting and operating information from other departments and operating units necessary for complete and accurate returns. Ensure that proper internal documentation clearly supports the tax positions taken by the company and that workpapers provide an easily identifiable audit trail - Fixed Assets ? Supervise and assist fixed asset projects including compliance, cost segregation, like-kind exchanges, state tax adjustments, and quarterly fixed asset deferred tax review - Federal, State, and Local Income Tax Audits ? Supervise and assist with income tax audits with a focus on tax minimization. Review Analyst?s responses to auditor?s requests for documents, reconciliations, and explanations on a timely basis. Assess the need for assistance from outside counsel. Negotiate audit issues with taxing authorities, working under the general supervision of the Director, Tax - Income Tax Planning ? Analyze tax laws and assists in planning company activities to minimize the tax burden on the company and maximize cash flow. Work with other departments and operating units to make possible the use of tax accounting methods most favorable to the tax position of the company. Keep abreast of tax law developments through reading and continuing education. Assist in analyzing proposed/adopted state income tax legislation and state court case rulings, measuring the impact of such legislation and court cases as applied to our business, and communicating any impact on future tax returns to team members. - Benefits and Compensation - Performs tax research and prepares communications related to employee benefits, compensation, employment tax, and fringe benefits issues. Works with other departments (including Benefits, Compensation, Payroll, and Corporate Law), outside counsel, and outside plan administrators to ensure that plan documents, plan administration, and overall benefit policies are in compliance with the IRC and ERISA. Assists these same departments with special projects and questions as needed Income Tax Accounting ? Supervise and assist with preparation of quarterly tax reserve schedules and all year-end accounting reporting - Special Projections ? Perform special research projects as required, maintain confidentiality, and communicate results effectively to management REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS - 5+ years tax experience in public accounting or comparable industry experience - 4 years progressive supervisory/management experience - Knowledge of tax preparation and research software REQUIRED EDUCATION: - Bachelor of Science in Accounting - CPA Certificate PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: - Masters of Tax - Multi-state, partnership tax experience To apply contact Kathy Downs at Email blocked - click to apply
