Position Summary:
Full-time Engineer responsible for developing solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems, requiring judgment and ingenuity within a Cross-Program perimeter (including A350XWB). General responsibilities include: new materials and equipment development, qualification and certification, Continued Airworthiness, cabin installation definition, supplier/RSP management, etc.
Primary Responsibilities:
* New Product Development & Innovation: Carpet, Non-Textile Flooring (NTF), Liquid Barrier Foil (Mylar), Seat Rail Covers, Seat Rail Filler Profiles, Carpet-NTF Joint Strips, S2S Cable Raceways, Adhesives, Welding Cords, Sealants, Laminates, etc.
* Technical Documentation Management Material & Technical Specifications (PTS & Frame), Standard Documents (ABS/AIMS/IPS), Process Instructions (80T/AIPI), Engineering Baseline Descriptions (EBD), Technical Notes/Memos, etc.
* Continued Airworthiness: Investigations & Risk Analyses to In-Service Occurrences.
* Guide and perform Verification and Validation (V&V), Qualification and Certification activities including release of the Declaration of Design Performance (DDP). Typically including review and acceptance of Qualification Test Reports in collaboration with relevant Engineering Specialists such as Flammability and Mass Properties.
* FAL Installation: On-site support, manufacturing design optimization, DQN/RDR/Concessions.
* Manufacturing Facility Support (Daher & ATP): Cutting, Gluing, Serging, etc.
* Represent the cross-functional Sub-MFT and A350XWB Core Team on relevant and recurring engineering risks and opportunities.
* Provide technical oversight of Material OEMs and A350XWB RSP to ensure delivery of integrated engineering solutions meeting technical, weight, program, and schedule and cost targets:
* NTF OEMs: Cooper Standard, Gerflor, Schneller, Wulfmeyer
* Carpet OEMs: Anker, Botany, Desso, Lantal, Mohawk, Neotex
* A350 RSP: Daher Aerospace
* Quality Support for production, manufacturing and installation activities.
* Weight, Time and Cost Reduction Initiatives & STEP Change Activities
* Represent the Company to customers and/ or suppliers on technical matters related to the assigned project or technical specialty.
* Analyze Customer Change Requests (CR) based on customer, manufacturing and/or design requirements.
* Develop solutions to handle complex tasks for which existing methods and procedures may not apply.
Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:
* Engineering experience in aircraft floor coverings design/installation preferred
* Minimum 5 years of engineering experience within the aviation industry.
* Must have willingness and ability to actively drive the development process and conclude on project objectives on time and on quality
* Must be able to quickly identify when escalation is appropriate and escalate if necessary
* Must have the ability to be self-directed and work in diverse teams
* Excellent communication and organizational skills are needed, with ability to plan and hold effective meetings.
* Must have strong capability in MS Office Products and have the ability to learn new tool sets as required.
* Experience working in international teams and/or with Airbus aircraft cabin engineering Process, Methods, and Tools viewed as an advantage.
Education / Special Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree (B.S) from a four year college or university in engineering or similar related subject area is normally required or equivalent education and experience.
