ECS is seeking an Operations Manager to work in our Arlington, VA office.

Job Description:
The Operations Manager (Sustainment) will be responsible managing sustainability and capacity related projects throughout the Program. The role is expected to having depth and breadth knowledge of managing servers, data interface management, system integration, and network operations in a large-scale distributed environment; which is a core competency. This individual should also have deep knowledge and experience in at least one of the following core areas: Networking, Project Management, Tool and Automation, and or Hardware and OS repair.
Other duties include:

  • Patch Management to ensure all systems are patched following IPPS-A's patch management process
  • Support dot releases
  • Coordinate COOP exercises
  • Manage server upgrades, integration, rebuild and other projects as required
  • Monitor and evaluate the costs, performance, and schedule involving the IPPS-A System Integrator's (SI) product support and sustainment activities
  • Prepare, review, approve, and/or process O&S related contracting documentation through the COR/KO to the SI for compliance or implementation
  • Implement process improvements and inform best practices in data center operations
  • Monitor data center activities and ensure SLA requirements are being met
  • Coordinate with data centers to schedule downtime and maintenance activities
  • Coordinate releases with the Configuration Management and Release Management Teams
  • Monitor and evaluate the system integrator post-production technical support solution design, development, deployment/cutover, and implementation aspects of the PeopleSoft implementation lifecycle
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure and Deployment team to resolve issues
  • Demonstrate leadership in the areas of communication, planning and coordination
  • Ensures tasks and milestones associated with technical design, configuration and unit testing are completed according to project management guidelines
  • Monitor progress through appropriate metrics and management reporting
  • Provide technical guidance to team members
  • Track issues and analyze data looking for trends and systemic issues
  • Meet deadlines and manage multiple, dynamic priorities
  • Drive specifications for tools that facilitate deployment and decommissioning of server hardware at scale
  • Develop strategic road maps

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or other technically relevant degree
  • Must have an Active Secret clearance
  • 6-8 years of overall technical experience in system design, project development and production support of large applications/systems
  • Proven track record of successful implementation of all project life cycle stages from requirements gathering through implementation and enhancements
  • Must have strong analytical skills and can demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
  • Effectively communicates and has experience working in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a strong focus on customer service and solution ownership

  • ITIL Certification
  • Security+ Certification
