We are currently looking for Software Systems Engineer with Linux as the main skill. This is a Hybrid position, and the candidate should be local to Richmond, Virginia

Role: Software Systems Engineer

Duration: 2 Weeks

Location : Hybrid.

Skills Required:

Perform Server Administration duties primarily for Red Hat Linux RHEL6, RHEL7, RHEL8. Perform script development, server patching and disk space management as needed. Provide technical support to Database Administrators, Application Administrators, and other IT support staff.
Top Skills:
Experience with RedHat Linux RHEL6, RHEL7, RHEL8, Satellite, Ansible, Puppet
Additional Skills (helpful but not required):
SAN attached storage and VMware
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems helpful but not required.
• Working knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as 2 years experience in server/storage technology
• Linux server Operating System administration
• Ansible or Ansible Tower

General knowledge, skills, and abilities

• General knowledge of VMware.
• General knowledge of NAS/SAN storage concepts.
• General knowledge of NetApp Ontap.
• General TCP/IP network knowledge.
• General IT Linux security knowledge.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

• Installation of server OS, apply OS patches, server applications
• Script development – languages such as Ansible (yuml), Bash, Python, & PowerShell
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic
• work with peer IT support teams when needed to identify and fix issues.
• Maintain Operating Systems software and Applications:
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
• RHEL storage configuration, including SAN and NAS technology
• VMWare (bonus)
• Unitrends disk-based backup (bonus)
• NetApp OnTap (bonus)
