Robert Half is searching for a determined Director of Accounting who is eager to contribute their skill to a distinguished Investment Management/Companies company. The leadership position is responsible for an accounting and clerical department. As the Director of Accounting, your tasks will include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assessing accounting and internal control systems, and guiding departmental staff. How you will make an impact


- Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies


- Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective


- Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required


- Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports


- Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals


- Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll


- Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time


- Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis


- Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts


- Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities


- Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations

- Excellent oral and written communications skills

- Month-end Close Activities experience

- Corporate Accounting experience

- Experience with financial statement preparation

- Financial Control experience preferred

- People Management experience required

- Demonstrated knowledge of Financial Services

- Adeptness in GAAP Accounting

- Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

- Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"

- Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required

- Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

- Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

- Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

- Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines

- Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

- Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus

- Self-starter and strong ethical standards
