Overview

Position Summary: The Respiratory Care Practitioner, under direct supervision, conducts patient assessments, assists with the development of the plan of care, provides and evaluates general, basic patient care with assistance to an assigned group of patients according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs. Collaborates with other health care team members in the delivery of care. Will follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.


Minimum Qualifications:
1+ year experience as a CHLA RCP I, or 2+ years critical care experience as an RCP. Broad knowledge of respiratory care principles and equipment; CHLA patient care policies and procedures. Ability to assess effectiveness of patient care; maintain a calm demeanor and assist in crises and emergencies; prioritize tasks for complex patient care; communicate tactfully, professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing.


Education/Licensure/Certifications:
Graduate of an A.M.A. approved two-year School of Respiratory Care. RCP license from the state of California. Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the NBRC. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) required. Additional competencies may be required by the work location and Neonatal & Pediatric Specialist (NPS) certification preferred.


Pay Scale Information

$68,848.00-$112,902.00

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
