Our Active Antennas engineering team in Rome is looking for a Digital and Power S/S Engineer to take responsibility for the architecture definition, specification, and support to verification of the Digital/Power S/S for Radar and Telecommunication Active Antennas.

Activities and tasks:

• Drive trade-offs to define power and digital architecture of active antennas, taking into account state-of-art availability of technologies, proposing innovative solutions matching budget and schedule constraints;


• Specification and supervision of digital and power units.


• Support to validation of digital solution using advanced Laboratory (e.g. High-speed Oscilloscope, Logical Analyser, Spectrum Analyzer).


• Supervision of validation and support to Flight Equipment Integration and Verification of the developed solutions.


• Participation to bids with understanding and discussion of requirements, trade off and fast evaluation of different possible solutions; finalization of pre-design to allow the team to make the quotation. Support to Risk analysis and evaluation.


• Interfacing the customer and suppliers and collaboration with other Thales Alenia Space departments including project leaders, RF, digital and power product lines, industrial engineering, manufacturing, and marketing & sales.

About You:

Education and experience:

• You have a Master Degree in Electrical or Telecommunication Engineering.


• You have knowledge of microelectronics cards/components and measurements.


• You have knowledge of Digital Beam-Forming techniques.


• You are proficient in digital signal processing and complex HW equipment architecture design.


• You have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role.

Knowledge:

You have a demonstrable knowledge of:

• Circuit design – including high-speed applications - and simulation.


• Matlab / Simulink programming.


• Laboratory experience.


• Digital and Mixed-signal PCB design will be considered an asset.


• Knowledge of design flow and standards for space applications will be considered an asset.


• Knowledge of active antennas will be considered an asset.
