Gemini Energy Services, A Tetra Tech Division is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the care and expertise of maintaining proprietary mechanical and electrical machinery present at a nearby facility. The signing of a Non-Disclosure Agreement is required. Qualified candidates will be responsible for the inspection, cleaning and all respective maintenance of this uniquely designed equipment, requiring technical knowledge and experience with machinery and engines. Aviation, Wind, Solar, Crane and other skilled Technicians are encouraged to apply. Daily activities include testing, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical components. The Technicians will assist in site reporting, monitoring and other duties as required.
This is a local position. You must be willing to work up to 60 hours per week, as needed, to meet project and maintenance schedules. On-call and weekend work will occasionally be required. Qualified candidates must be able to consistently maintain, troubleshoot, and communicate with site supervisors on the details, function and condition of the equipment. Documentation and computer skills will be required to track the condition, preventative and corrective activities in the Maintenance Management System.

  • Mechanical Skills:  Familiarity with parts and components of complex machinery and engines
  • Electrical Skills: Understanding of Direct Current Electricity, Alternating Current Electricity, and Electronics
  • Technical Skills: Familiar with electronics, programmable logic controllers, read and comprehend detailed engineering drawings, manuals and schematics, electronic diagnostic testing and tuning equipment to troubleshoot repairs and/or complete calibration
  • Troubleshooting skills: Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic malfunctions, identify problems and determine appropriate solutions
  • Computer Skills: Ability to accurately enter all information relating to Preventive and Corrective activity in the Maintenance Management System
  • Familiarity with Voltage Testers, Multimeters, Amp Clamps, Oscilloscopes, Meghommeters, Infrared Testers, Voltage Test Procedures, Lock Out Tag Out, Electric Static Discharge (ESD), Hydraulics, Accumulator Charging, Crane Hand Signals, Soldering, Fasteners, Torqueing, Hytorques, and Fiber Optics
  • Tool and Equipment knowledge: hand tools, power tools, machine tools, jacks, hoists, pumps, hoses, compressors, air dryers and tanks, steering and suspension systems, wheel alignment, gearbox repair, springs, power steering, wiring
  • Attention to Detail: Some parts need to be in the exact right place or they will not function
  • Environmental, Health & Safety: Proven track record in EHS. Knowledge of the handling and disposal of hazardous waste, use of tools, equipment, supplies, liquid and compressed gases and other site materials
  • Communication: Ability to communicate with management, technicians, site personnel to diagnose and repair equipment, escalate issues and report status, generate reports
  • Ability to train other employees in operations, maintenance, and repair procedures
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Job Requirements

  • Electrical/mechanical experience: 1 year minimum, 3+ years preferred
  • Technical degree or a combination of technical training certifications and work experience
  • Required Education: High school or equivalent
  • Preferred Education: Additional post-secondary degree or graduated training in heavy equipment mechanics and maintenance
  • Must have current driver’s license and clean DMV record (within last 3 years) and ability to operate service trucks as required
  • Must have clean criminal background
  • Current valid Driver's License with less than 3 moving violations in past 3 years
  • Candidates must be able to pass a drug screen
  • Able to travel to other US locations, willing to travel for up to 6 weeks at a time.
    Training/Experience Preferred:
  • NFPA 70e electrical training
  • OSHA 10 Hour Safety Course completion
  • First Aid / CPR
  • Forklift & Boom lift certified operator
    Physical Requirements:
  • Capable of lifting at least 40 lbs.
  • Capable of bending, twisting and lifting items over head
