Data Center Power Sr Principal Engineer
Our Electrical Engineering team puts the spark into the full hardware development lifecycle, from concept to production. It takes experts in system architecture definition, design, analysis, prototyping, sourcing & the debugging and validation of layouts or routes to deliver state-of-the-art products for a changing world. We work closely with designers, cross-functional teams within Dell Technologies and suppliers to make sure electronic designs meet a range of requirements, including schedule, feature set, functionality and quality, as well as industry standards.

What you’ll achieve
As a Data Center Power Engineer, you will focus on supporting and leading elements of the overall architecture, design, testing and implementation of electrical power systems for Modular Data Centers. The role will involve working hands on with industry leaders in data center design and product development. You will be required to work as part of a cross-functional team to understand and drive engineering design elements. The team is looking for engineers who are comfortable taking accountability and can adapt easily to meet the needs of our rapidly evolving business. The ideal candidate is customer focused, results driven, innovative, works well on a team, and acts with integrity.
You will:
- Collaborate with internal teams as well as our customers and partners to support a range of solutions targeted for small capacity solutions supporting the telecommunications industry up through the largest hyperscale data centers.
- Evaluate and select appropriate data center power technologies to fulfill the design requirements; driving a balance between cost, performance, quality, and schedule to provide world class solutions for our customers.
- Work with external partners and internal Dell technology engineering, marketing, and validation teams to capture design intent and develop detailed electrical one-lines, schematics, power budgets, BOMs and other engineering collateral.
- Validate internal and third-party solutions by developing and executing detailed test plans for data center electrical, HVAC and industrial control systems.
- Drive key internal stakeholders, partners and vendors through strong relationship building and collaboration to bring about the desired business results to the company and business unit.

Essential Requirements
- 8+ years of professional electromechanical related data center design and manufacturing experience with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Robust knowledge of data center power distribution and capacity components, and electrical system design; systems include switchboards, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), circuit breakers, busway, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) protected power, battery technologies, generators, High Resistance Grounding (HRG), metering, surge protection, and IT rack based power distribution.
- Experience with EPlan electrical engineering software or other similar electrical drafting software.
- Proficient written and verbal presentation and communication skills required for internal and customer facing presentations and working sessions.
- Individual must be self-motivated and able to thrive in a fast paced, ambiguous environment.
Desirable Requirements
- Ability to understand competing relationships between thermal, mechanical, electrical, power security, and networking requirements.
- Knowledge and experience with designing to compliance to the National Electric Code and applicable regulatory (UL) requirements.
Compensation
Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $170k - $206k.
