Independent Living Sales Counselor

Position Summary

Follows-up on leads and sells apartments in the Community. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: interface with all leads and turn those leads into residents of the Community; follow procedures in lead tracking; keep current records of all leads and prospects as required by the Community; and meet predetermined monthly sales goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interact with all leads whether provided through advertising, public relations, referral, or personal contact and turn those leads into residents of the community through the use of professional selling skills.
  • Track leads, keeping accurate records on all leads and prospects.
  • Operates prospect tracking systems.
  • Strives to meet predetermined monthly sales goals.
  • Act professionally and honestly at all times in the representation of the Community concept of senior living.
  • Maintains consistent, close contact with existing referral sources.
  • Attends staff meetings and in-service training as required.
  • Follows all Community Policies and Procedures and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety guidelines.
  • Protects privacy and maintains confidentiality of all company procedures, results and information about employees, participants and families.

Educational Requirements and Experience

  • Degree in Marketing or related field preferred.
  • At least two to five years experience; retirement community sales preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Language Ability

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, speaking the primary language of the members.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or Associates of organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Cognitive Demands

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

  • Ability to use Microsoft Windows, including Word and Excel. Ability to use email and the Internet. Ability to use client tracking and design software.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision.
