PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To provide comprehensive Human Resources Services for a designated division within the company thus ensuring appropriate staffing and a positive employee relations climate within that division. Partner with Division Management and Human Resources colleagues to ensure effective implementation of Human Resources programs and consistent application of Human Resources policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Human Resources policies, procedures, learning initiatives, technical systems and administrative services, and collaborate with Human Resources management and staff in the planning, development, and implementation of major policy initiatives affecting employment and employee relations in their assigned division.
  • Employment:
    • Screen applicants, conduct interviews, administer tests, check references, evaluate applicant qualifications and counsel divisional management on hiring and compensation decisions.
    • Represent Affinity at selected job fairs, open houses, school outreach and relationships with
      community services programs. Assure that qualified candidates are hired quickly and cost effectively.
    • Function as a liaison to employment and advertising agencies, communicating advertising needs and negotiating fees and services.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Advise divisional management (Directors, Managers and Supervisors) on the interpretation, communication and enforcement of Affinity employment policies and procedures. Collaborate with the Director and Senior HR Business Partner on appropriate interventions to resolve issues and ensure a harmonious, productive work environment. Counsel staff on work related issues.
    • Conduct effective exit interviews. Make recommendations regarding corrective action that may retain valued staff, or provide solutions to trends of concern to Director.
  • Compensation:
    • Collaborate with the Director – Employment & Employee Relations and Director- Compensation & Benefits to develop appropriate salary offers and identify/avoid/resolve potential equity issues.
    • Assist in job description research, preparation, review and grading.
  • HRIS:
    • Communicate budget changes, transfers, additions, separations and promotions to the HRIS team, ensuring that both HRIS and Finance budget information is updated accurately and timely for their assigned division.
    • Maintain position control records for all applicants identified as candidates for budgeted positions and perform recruitment activity reporting as required.
  • Training:
    • Assist the Senior HR Business Partner and the Learning & Development department in co-facilitating existing training programs that provides knowledge and skill enhancement, proficiency/productivity and professional growth for Affinity staff based on presented business needs.
  • HR Services:
    • Develop and maintain positive, constructive, mutually beneficial relationships with potential and active business associates as well as Plan staff, in order to assure effective communication, prompt problem resolution, and maintenance of consistently positive working relationships.
    • Assist in the coordination of HR events including, but not limited to, service awards, recognition events, etc.
    • Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in Human Resources, Psychology or related field or equivalent related business experience. Professional HR certification preferred.
  • Five years of HR experience which must include recruitment experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as demonstrated by accurate, clear and unambiguous communication and the ability to present effectively to individuals or groups.
  • Good interpersonal skills characterized by tact, diplomacy and articulateness.
  • Strong analytical skills and detail orientation as demonstrated by the ability to produce an analyze reports and explain the trends they may reflect.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and multitask.
  • Strong consulting and influencing skills.
