Assistant Director of Gender & Sexuality Resources
Johns Hopkins University Baltimore, MD (Onsite) Full-Time
*Assistant Director of Gender & Sexuality Resources*The Center for Diversity & Inclusion (CDI) at Johns Hopkins University is seeking applications for the next *Assistant Director for Gender & Sexuality Resources *(GSR). Reporting directly to the Associate Director for Gender & Sexuality Resources, this position will: 1) supervise student staff to plan and implement student programming and communications; 2) advise and work with student organizations to continue to build an infrastructure of community, support, and belonging 3) aid in the establishment of project management and workflow processes for GSR programming, communications, and operations 4) build collaborative relationships with partners across the university.The Assistant Director for Gender & Sexuality Resources will primarily support students with marginalized sexual orientations, romantic orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions at Johns Hopkins while also serving as a resource for the entire campus community. The Assistant Director should be able to engage in innovative and organized execution and supervision to meet the needs of women, femme, queer, and trans students at Hopkins at the intersections of identities.*Specific Duties & Responsibilities***Programming (30%) * Overseeing planning and implementation for signature programs (including, but not limited to, Lavender Celebration, Women's History Month, LGBTQ History Month, Women & Femmes Gala, and GSR Trivia Night).* Supervising student workers to carry out all programs.* Manage staffing and implementation of recurring departmental programs (including but not limited to Identity Meet Ups, Game nights, and Grad student mixers).* Work closely with departments within the Center for Diversity & Inclusion and affiliate partner offices to collaborate on programs at the intersection of students identities.* Continuing to build out a programming calendar that meets the needs of the students we serve.* Managing programming budgets, purchasing, and contracting with vendors in collaboration with the Associate Director and CDI administrative coordinators.* Building relationships with key stakeholders, including student groups and campus entities, to increase engagement and meet community needs.Student Support/Advising (30%)* Serve as a hub and connector for student organizations related to communities with marginalized sexual, romantic, and gender identities.* Advise students in small group and individual settings.* Refer students to other University departments (e.g., Multicultural Affairs, Religious, and Spiritual Life, Counseling Center, Center for Student Success, Life Design, Academic Advising, Case Management, etc.) or outside organizations when necessary.* Partner with student organizations to implement programming.* Oversee the department advisory boards and initiative groups.* Communicate student needs with the Associate Director and use student feedback to inform departmental work.Project Management/Operations (15%)* In collaboration with the Associate Director, this position will assist in the development of procedures and documentation of GSR workflow and programs.* Prepare briefs and professional communications about GSR work for university administration.* Serve as a leader and administrator within GSR and CDI.* Responsible for onboarding student staff/paraprofessionals.Communications (15%)* Develop social media strategy to increase awareness and impact of our events, programs, initiatives, partners, and community using best practices.* Implement software such as Loomly and Canva to enact social media strategy.* Supervising student staff to implement social media strategy.* Working with Associate Director to update department website as needed to reflect GSRs current work best.* Oversee student interns in the moderation of a Discord server.* Supervise content for weekly newsletters and other regular communications.* Working with the Associate Director, this position will assist in completing reports regarding the department overall, its programs, trainings, initiatives, etc.* Develop strategies for disseminating program assessments to increase reach and responses.* Research best practices and peer institutions on an ongoing basis in order to evaluate current student development program offerings and to identify areas of need and growth.*Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities** Student support experience including managing undergraduate/graduate student workers, student organizations, and one-on-one.* Experience working with diverse communities, including graduate students, international students, students of color, disabled students, women and femmes, LGBTQ+ students, etc.* Significant leadership experience to effectively manage teams to meet deadlines and achieve department goals.* Experience collaborating with various stakeholders to produce projects and programs that respond to needs in the community.* Innovative perspectives to be able to adapt our offerings and direction as necessary to meet the needs of the communities we center with our work.* Program management experience.* Familiarity with graphic design software (Canva and/or Adobe), social media management software, social media platforms, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite.* Experience in delivering identity-specific presentations/curriculum.*Minimum Qualifications** Masters Degree required, preferably in Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.** Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a relevant field.* Education can substitute for experience and experience can substitute for education to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency formula.* Classified Title: Multicultural Affairs Advisor Working Title: Assistant Director of Gender & Sexuality Resources Role/Level/Range: ACRP/04/MD Starting Salary Range: $54,080-$74,390-$94,710 Annually (Commensurate with experience) Employee group: Full Time Schedule: Monday -
