Job Summary:

The Parts Room Assistant position is responsible for supporting the Parts Room Purchasing Specialist in receiving and verifying maintenance parts and all consumable items for the facility. This position also maintains the spare parts room, including general inventory, with the goal of expediting all repairs and limiting production down-time when possible.



Job Responsibilities & Tasks:

  1. Manage inventory of all maintenance parts and consumables (production, maintenance, quality, shipping, etc.)
  2. Maintain minimum levels of inventory to eliminate downtime
  3. Assist maintenance personnel with finding and identifying parts
  4. Update and maintain parts standard in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  5. Update and maintain stockroom organization and 5s
  6. Perform inventory cycle counts to ensure compliance with inventory management program
  7. Assist with annual inventory
  8. Identify and correct any discrepancies in inventory counts and/or errors in descriptions of parts in computerized maintenance management system
  9. Manage incoming and outgoing shipments:
  10. Receive, unpack, and verify items against purchase orders
  11. Maintain and notify the correct person or department of any items received for them
  12. Basic shipping from small packages to large pallets, both domestic and international, and knowledge of how items should be packaged to safely arrive at destination
  13. Drive forklift in accordance with company policy
  14. Responsible for cross-functional team interactions and open communication:
  15. Participate in the technical team meeting and other meetings as needed
  16. Consider the requirements for industrial and food safety in all job aspects
  17. Respect good practices in safety, food safety, hygiene, and quality
  18. All other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or GED is required.



EXPERIENCE

Experience with oversight of parts and inventory management in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.

2 or more years of experience in a customer service role is required.

Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and an ERP system is highly desirable.

1 year shipping/receiving experience preferred.



SKILLS

Knowledge of principals and methods of purchasing and inventory management.

Knowledge of machines, tools, and parts (mechanical & electrical), including their uses.

Technical knowledge of food processing equipment is a plus.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

Demonstrates the ability to seek input and make timely, well-informed decisions.

Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.

Must have solid written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to perform the job independently.

Ability to become forklift certified within 6 months of hire.

Demonstrates a strong attention to detail.

Knowledge of inventory and flows of inventory.

Proper housekeeping and 5s standards.



PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Must be able to climb a ladder.

Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per day and sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Must be able to wear PPE.
