Field Sales Manager

The Field Sales Manager is responsible for providing training, coaching, guidance and expertise in all knowledgeable product categories to the Sales Project Consultants and provides professional development for Sales Project Consultants at the individual and team level with focus on overall office performance improvement. Methods include one-on-one ride-along development, class room product training, and leading by example in personal performance standards. The Field Sales Manager is also responsible for partnering with the DSM in attaining the monthly, quarterly, and annual Net Sales Revenue targets in addition to Dollar per Appointment, Gross Close Rate, Net Close Rate and Self-Generated Sales targets for their district.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conducts classroom-based training to provide technical and selling skill knowledge to new hire Sales Project Consultants as well as continuing educations to existing Sales Project Consultants
  • Assists District Sales Manager in maintaining staffing levels by recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training and development of Sales Project Consultants
  • Develops Sales Project Consultants by ensuring their product knowledge and selling skills are competent within defined product categories through role-playing, field ride-alongs and classroom style training
  • Assists the District Sales Manager in conducting daily and weekly sales meetings at the sales office to generate a motivational and positive learning atmosphere
  • Conducts an average of 6-7 ride-along appointments per week with new or underperforming SPCs and presents and/or observes a full in-home presentation to the consumer utilizing the company s selling process in order to maintain personal skillset and develop Sales Project Consultants through a field ride-along process
  • Performs field ride-along evaluations on 100% of field ride-along appointment that result in a presentation
  • Trains and monitors using Business Intel reporting to ensure all associates are creating self-generated sales to increase company revenue and associate earnings
  • Addresses performance deficiencies through coaching and skill development techniques such as ride-alongs, in-home selling observation and feedback, as well as identifying performance deficiencies and address through class room training
  • Performs supervisory functions, including but not limited to, making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting and terminating, conducting performance appraisals and coaching and developing associates
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Home Improvement Sales License only required in certain states
  • Ability to manage associates reporting to them including making decisions regarding hiring and firing of team members and identify areas for associate development and improvement
  • Ability to train in classroom environment along with in the customer s home or driving with the associate
  • Ability to follow management direction and SOPs as well as represent the Company in a business-like and professional manner
  • Ability to establish priorities, negotiate contracts, and read and interpret financial information
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Ability to lift and carry product sample display cases. Occasional lifting of sample cases that individually do not exceed 40 lbs. Depending on the product, sample case weight can range from 5-40 lbs.
  • Ability to drive in various weather conditions for long periods of time and in various geographic areas including the ability to drive, on average, 750 miles a week (or more as needed)
  • Sets the example for professional appearance, performance and technical expertise
  • Ability to access different levels of terrain while performing duties
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English (both orally and in writing) with associates, managers, consumers and others, (For Puerto Rico based associates only must be proficient in English and Spanish written and verbal communications)
PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Thorough knowledge of Sears Home Improvement business systems and procedures
  • Experience managing up to 15 employees
