Job Description

Summary


The Junior Facility Design Engineer assists the Facility Design Engineer in providing leadership, management, planning and organization in the execution of assigned projects associated with the operation, repair, maintenance and construction of facilities, equipment, buildings and grounds. The position interfaces with various levels of company staff, Facilities personnel, contractors, external professionals and vendors.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities


The statements below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work in this position. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities. The position may require that employees perform other duties as assigned.

  • Assist the Facility Design Engineer with system engineering and construction related matters.

  • Assist with the planning of physical space modification and new equipment installation.

  • Interface with internal engineers and operational personnel in system and equipment operation matters. Interface with outside contractors and vendors.

  • Have operational knowledge of building automation system.

  • Assist in the monitoring of operations. Assist in conducting on-going and routine assessments of building system operation and performance to ensure proper functioning of equipment.

  • Keep facility information, documentation (paper and electronic, as-builts, operation and maintenance etc.) organized and up-to-date. Enhance and optimize the use of new technology in record keeping.

  • Must be able to analyze and resolve routine and urgent system issues.

  • Must possess strong written and spoken communication skills.

  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and be a reliable self-starter who demonstrates initiative and a drive for results. Must be committed to customer service/satisfaction and quality control. Must have a strong work ethic and positive attitude.

Experience


At least 2 years experience in either the design of building MEPFP systems or as a project manager/engineer in the construction industry. Knowledge of commercial, cleanroom and industrial design and construction as well as industrial utility support of manufacturing facilities is preferred. Past experience with construction process including project management, collaboration with architects, engineers, construction managers, contractors and sub-contractors a plus. Must possess strong technology skills and have proficiency with business application software. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Autocad/Draftsight are required.

Education


A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or related engineering field) from an accredited college or university is required with a minimum of two years experience in the industry as a project manager or engineer.

Physical Demands


Working conditions may include travel through cramped spaces, on ladders, on high roofs, extreme temperatures, around moving machinery and in spaces containing high levels of noise and dust.
