Reports to the District Human Resources Manager. This position will assist in the development and documentation of all Human Resources Policies, Procedures, Forms, Manuals, and Performance Management materials and other duties assigned by the District Human Resources Manager. This position is considered a vital link between management and the employees and must foster a positive, healthy, and enthusiastic work environment free of inappropriate behavior. Must know, practice and ensure that company policies and procedures and state and federal laws are followed at all times. The ability to handle assignments that are of a confidential and complex nature with considerable discretion, judgment, and tact.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintain good relationships with corporate HR staff, field HR staff, and company management of all business units to ensure and maintain open communication. Oversee the substance abuse and testing program for post hiring situations (random, periodic, post accident and reasonable suspicion) and related procedures. Conduct supervisory training on “Reasonable Suspicion” and substance abuse prevention. Responsible for the processing of all driver motor vehicle record checks (except DOT) and assisting Operations and Transportation in the implementation of the safe driving training programs, DOT Driver Qualification files, and ADESA Class A Driver Certification requirements. Assist in safety awareness education and training programs. Assist management in hiring for exempt and non-exempt personnel. Conduct new employee orientation and training of employees on Company policies and procedures. Assist management in planning and implementing staffing and scheduling, and monitoring overall changes in headcount. Assist Corporate HR with the administration of compensation, payroll, PTO, and benefits, along with maintaining employee personnel files. Attend Human Resources educational meetings and seminars to stay current with legal requirements and other emerging trends in the field. Handle employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviews. Promote local employee community involvement, newsletters, and company/employee outings and social activities. Practice and promote teamwork at all times. Set a good personal example of attitude and performance. Monitor all area related conditions, property and equipment within corporate standards for cleanliness, proper maintenance and safety. Advise Facilities of all breakdowns and maintenance immediately.
Make sure all area conditions do not threaten employee safety. Respond to and follow proper procedures on employee accidents, injuries, and loss or damage to any property. Report all incidents immediately. Practice and instruct all employees in proper loss prevention and reaction procedures. Report all incidents properly and immediately.
Educational Requirements and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with at least 3 years of HR experience, preferably in a multi-site and/or multi-state organization. At least one (1) year of exempt Human Resources experience is preferred. SPHR, PHR, or related certification (or progress toward certification) is required within 24 months of employment. Must have knowledge of principles and practices of HR administration, policies, procedures, and employment law. Experience with MS Office, payroll and timekeeping systems, and recruiting systems is also required. Valid Driver’s License required. #CB
