EHS/ Safety Manager

The Execu|Search Group Somerville, NJ Full-Time
A manufacturing company located in New Jersey is actively seeking a driven and dedicated professional to join their staff as their new EHS / Safety Manager. In this role, the EHS / Safety Manager will establish and maintain an effective system of communication within the organization, developing effective working relationships with the safety committee, department managers, plant manager, and employees.
Responsibilities

The EHS / Safety Manager will:
  • Direct and organize EHS-related projects for the site
  • Lead cross-functional safety teams and work groups as required
  • Assist in the day-to-day activities and communications regarding Safety
  • Provide support to manufacturing and staff and focus on safety awareness, prevention, and training
  • Assist Corporate EHS and site management in developing health and safety programs and procedures
  • Develop, maintain and disseminate a variety of safety information and training topics
  • Coordinate training program for both safety and non-safety related trainings
  • Conduct monthly plant-wide facility meetings
  • Conduct new employee safety/first day training
  • Conduct contractor training and audits
  • Ensure OSHA, EPA and IDNR compliance
  • Maintain all site required documentation related to safety issues

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Occupational Health, EHS Management)
  • 5-7+ years' experience at a supervisor level in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience implementing EHS programs in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
  • Experience interpreting regulatory requirements and implementing and coordinating OSHA compliance programs
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Demonstrated mathematical skills
