Job Details

We are looking for a Senior Transportation Planning/Engineering Manager to join a multidisciplinary team of professionals focused on delivering impactful transportation projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects across New York’s Capital Region and beyond. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in project management, transportation planning, and engineering, with a passion for community-focused solutions.

Responsibilities:

Oversee technical progress and prepare deliverables for transportation planning and design projects.
Build and maintain relationships with clients and develop partnerships for new business opportunities.
Manage day-to-day staffing and project scheduling.
Lead complex transportation planning studies and assist with proposal development.
Develop and oversee transportation plans, analyses, and reports.
Serve as a project manager for a range of projects, from basic to complex.
Ensure quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) across project documents.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior planners and engineers.
Lead public and client meetings for complex projects.
Prepare invoices and manage project financials.

General Characteristics:

Leads complex projects with input from multidisciplinary teams.

Applies engineering economics and risk analysis to solve complex problems.
Demonstrates leadership and vision in project management and engineering solutions.

Experience:

10+ years of experience in transportation planning and engineering.
Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field. Equivalent experience is also considered.
Licensure:

Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, with multi-state reciprocity preferred.

Technical Responsibilities:

Develops standards and guidelines for transportation projects.
Leads projects in areas of specialization and develops design alternatives that account for community input, permitting, and other regulatory constraints.
Incorporates sustainability and advanced concepts into project solutions.

Project and Task Management:

Oversees technical, legal, and financial aspects of transportation projects.
Develops comprehensive project management plans, incorporating team collaboration and effective leadership.
Identifies project objectives and ensures the necessary resources are allocated.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises multiple teams and segments of the practice.
Implements staff development plans and evaluates the performance of team leaders.
Provides administrative guidance in line with organizational objectives.
