Job Summary

This position is accountable for managing and improving the materials management activities and performance for the Cooling business at the Olathe Plant. Responsibilities include full scope of all materials processes at the plant from master scheduling, procurement, receiving, warehousing, and shipping. Master scheduling and planning encompasses all products produced and supplied from the Olathe plant. Warehousing includes both inside and outside the plant for raw materials, wip, and finished goods inventory. The incumbent is responsible for continuous improvement activities in materials management yielding operational cost savings and lead-time reductions. Requirements include knowledge of planning and scheduling discrete manufacturing operations, inventory management and control practices, and shipping transactions including for both domestic and international shipments. The successful incumbent will be able to manage the budget, implement improvement projects on time, and deliver great customer service. They will have strong organizational and communication skills, and be able to focus on details in order to ensure that all customer requirements are met.

Responsibilities

* Lead all planning and scheduling activities for the plant.
* Lead procurement/buying activities for the plant balancing material availability with inventory levels.
* Manage all material transactional activities from receiving through shipping.
* Develop and implement inventory management continuous improvement activities related to storage management, transactional efficiencies, and inventory control/accuracy.
* Responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of material for both domestic and international shipments.
* Support the Sourcing Team on material cost savings, preferred carrier and freight payment initiatives
* Ensure compliance of all documentation and packaging for domestic shipments, international projects and individual shipments (Ex: Bill of Ladings, Hazardous Material Declaration, Harmonized Tariff Numbers, Commercial Invoices, Packing lists, Certificates of Origin, NAFTA documents, Inspection Requirements per Country)
* Understand the specific countries requirements when exporting to (EX: ISPM-15 Wood packaging, legalization of documents, quarantined declaration required), and help train other logistics personnel, order administrators, project managers, proposal managers, and material managers regarding these requirements
* Manage packaging activities (crating vendors, package utilization, and truckload and container optimization).
* Deploy technology solutions (i.e. bar coding) where applicable to improve transactional efficiencies and accuracy
* Participate in the exchange of materials management best practices between Europe, Asia and North American Materials Leaders
* Provide SAP subject matter expertise at Olathe and other sites as needed

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree required
* 5+ years of experience in warehousing, distribution, inventory management roles required; 10+ years preferred
* HazMat certification
* Strong knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
* Knowledge of international shipments and requirements helpful
* Understanding of logistics terminology helpful
* Experience implementing transactional technology in processes such as bar coding
* APICS (CPIM) or AST&L (CTL) certification highly recommended
