Electronics Engineering Lab Technician - Job Overview:


Applied Concepts has an exciting opportunity at our Richardson R&D facility, where you will be an integral contributor to our cloud-connected best in call Speed Enforcement and Intelligent Traffic Systems product development teams. You will help leverage our 47 years of technology expertise in Radar, Lidar, and traffic safety to provide our customers with advanced, connected, real-time information systems that deliver value ranging from optimized traffic patterns to life-saving hazard avoidance. In this role, you will provide technical support for product development projects. You will work with a cross-functional team of experts to deliver innovative solutions spanning the entire product development life cycle, from planning and architecture development to production hand-off and continuous improvement activities. You must demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment where today's collaboration and innovation drive tomorrow's successes.


How You'll Make an Impact:



  • Work in a team environment, support the R&D efforts.

  • Learn new products and processes.

  • Perform verification testing on NPI products.

  • Troubleshoot new designs.

  • Analyze circuit performance using electronic test equipment.

  • Modify SMT and through-hole circuits from drawings.

  • Produce clear and concise engineering reports and documents.

  • Meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality results.

  • Maintain lab space, equipment inventory, along with equipment calibration.

  • Modify prototypes as required to meet performance requirements.


What We Value:



  • Practical knowledge and application of electronics, mechanics, math, and computers.

  • Experience in performing verification testing on NPI.

  • Produce clear and concise engineering reports and documents.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Engineering Technician or a related role.

  • Self-motivated individuals who can work with little supervision, consistently taking the initiative to get things done, and doing things before being asked by others or forced to by events.


What You'll Need to Succeed:



  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and cause and effect diagrams.

  • Ability to read and follow technical standards as well as verbal instructions.

  • Ability to summarize test data in spreadsheet format.

  • Ability to operate standard shop and lab tools.

  • Summarize test data and create test reports.

  • Aid engineers in obtaining appropriate product certifications.

  • Other duties as required.
