Accounting Manager

DRB Group Rockville, MD Full-Time


The Accounting Manager will report to the VP & Corporate Controller and will be assigned to our Corporate office in Rockville, Maryland. The position will be responsible for preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements and related reports, reconciliation of accounts, and cost and financial analysis. This hands-on position will work directly with the VP & Corporate Controller and other senior financial leaders of the company in supporting the financial and operational management needs of the Corporate Accounting Department, as well as several of the company’s divisional offices.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be the key financial contact person at the Corporate office for the financial leaders at several assigned divisions
  • Prepare, analyze and interpret weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and statements
  • Maintain and analyze account reconciliations including, accruals, prepaid expenses,
  • Perform monthly and year end closing activities, including journal entries, cost and financial analysis, and establishing accruals
  • Maintain the general ledger
  • Play a hands-on role in maintaining and developing internal financial controls, policies, and procedures to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data
  • Ad hoc reporting and performing special projects upon request, including being a key contact person for internal and external auditors
  • Other duties as assigned


Knowledge and Skills

  • Must be highly detail-oriented, well organized and able to effectively and efficiently manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines
  • Must have Leadership qualities and be looking to advance to positions within the organization with more responsibility
  • Should have Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Outlook and other MS Office products
  • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be able to think outside the box, with an eye toward new, potential solutions
  • Creation and validation of cost savings to support continuous improvement projects
  • Consistent work to improve accounting processes

Education & Experience Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university required
  • CPA or MBA strongly preferred
  • Preferably at least ten years of experience examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles
  • A minimum of five years in homebuilding/construction environment, is preferred
