As part of UHG, the UHC Platform Data Strategy & Engineering team plays a key role in defining standards, discipline, and principles to support UHC Data products. You will play a significant part in supporting the transformation of UHC Platform strategy across lines of business to meet the enterprise needs. You will be supporting and driving the UHC Data product capabilities, responsible for building and managing our Data Product streamlines

This role will be working closely with UHC Technology teams, Optum Technology teams, and business stakeholders to implement the data products within the UHC Data Strategy.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the definition and communication of UHC payer data packages and drive the roadmap implementation across the ecosystem.
  • Identify and assess candidate systems as authoritative data sources. Define/refine certification process, associated change management activities, governance, and ongoing assessment of data products.
  • Execute analysis of data practices and identify process improvements in efficiencies, performance, and adherence to data standards
  • Implement architect principles and design patterns to increase consistency and interoperability of data across the enterprise.
  • Create an accountability framework and actions with engineering to drive architecture and design consistency during platform modernization and data migration.
  • Own specific UHC Payer Data Product deliverables to take the product from Ideation through implementation
  • Champion a collaborative work environment that cultivates shared understanding, transparency, autonomy, innovation, and continuous learning

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in IT / Software Development
  • 3+ years of experience in data product solution strategy and implementation of large-scale data product solution
  • Hands on experience with NoSQL, Graph DB, Kafka, Azure Cosmos, Cassandra, and Elastic search
  • Programming experience in Python, JavaScript, or Golang
  • Experience in Agile, CI/CD, GitHub, and DevOps practices,
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects focused on innovations and development of Data products and/or solutions  
  • Working knowledge and experience in data governance and data management tools (Collibra and so on)
  • Experience performing data discovery, analysis, and profiling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of recent experience working with Healthcare Payer data, specifically with healthcare claims, membership, eligibility
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Deep analytical thinking and the desire to bring data-driven insights to every discussion
  • Experience with the payer landscape data methods, including data collection, data standardization, data storage/security, and data processing
  • Published work in data engineering or information design, data architecture and Data Modeler experience

Colorado Residents Only: The salary/hourly range for Colorado residents is $94,500 to $171,700.
