Controller for Hotel

About the firm:

• Our client is a luxury boutique hotel chain in the Soho area and they are looking for their next Controller to join their team
• This hotel is 4.5 star rating and in addition to rooms has a great restaurant on site as well as event space. This hotel is frequented by celebrities, top A listers and other elite clientele
• This role will be reporting directly to the Director of Finance and working closely with upper management as well.
• This is an opportunity to get into the hospitality industry in NYC if you already don't have that experience.
• This role is onsite full time and will be working with the Food and Beverage team as well.

Responsibilities of the Controller will include:

• Oversee operations of day to day accounting, including designing an organizational structure to achieve department goals; will oversee hotel operations
• Oversee AP/AR departments to ensure timely payments and collections as well as the payroll department
• Month/year end close, working on annual audits; financial statements
• Cost Accounting, reconciling the books, managing chart of accounts, financial reporting
• Creating annual budgets; oversee forecasting for future planning

Qualifications of the Controller

• Bachelors Degree; open to major but ideally in Accounting or Finance
• Exposure to accounting systems with strong Excel
• At least 4 years of relevant accounting experience; hospitality/restaurant/food is a plus
• Experience with inventory in any industry is a plus
