Job Title

Painter Level I



Main Purpose

    To prepare & paint parts of some types and finishes, per customer quality requirements



Job Functions & Associated Competencies

  • Operate paint guns, including HVLP, pressure pot, and gravity feed
  • Knows how to use some types of paints including water base, urethanes, and multi-components
  • Understands how to catalyze, thin, reduce and adjust the paint as necessary Able to make adjustments to compensate for temperature, humidity, etc.
  • Can texture paint to match customer requirements and/or samples
  • Knows how to setup the equipment (pressure, tip size, etc) to optimally spray some products
  • Can clean and perform routine maintenance on the equipment (paint guns and spray booth)
  • Can rebuild and repair the spray equipment
  • Can properly prepare the surface prior to painting (sand, bondo, spot putty etc.)
  • Knows some of the production parts, what color, how to spray the parts
  • Can spray the paint at the proper thickness (coverage) while minimizing overspray and paint waste



Experiences, Education and Training

  • Know the hazards associated with the materials and know how to properly store, use, and dispose of them
  • Familiar with the manufacturing procedures of some of the products
  • Knows the Company and customer quality requirements of some of the products
  • Can read work and inspection instructions
