The Opportunity:

The Senior Solutions Engineer’s goal is to translate customers’ challenges & needs into a technically sound and commercially attractive energy solution and provide leadership for a particular regional team. It is a very flexible and diverse position that includes data analysis, light market research, frequent contacts with customers, on-site technical evaluations, financial modeling, and business prioritization- all focused on distributed energy resources such as solar, battery storage, and electric vehicle charging.

This Senior Solutions Engineer:

  • Works independently in partnership with sales, product marketing, product management, and engineering as a critical link between internal technical resources, the end customer and key stakeholders
  • Leads pre-sales functions that enable efficient and data-driven project assessment
  • Drives revenue by clearly communicating the range of solutions and corresponding benefits across the spectrum of performance, cost, risk and compliance to provide value to the customer while maximizing business results
  • Possesses deep technology and application knowledge of energy storage, solar, electric vehicle charging, and other distributed energy resources (DERs)
  • Quickly and accurately identifies recommended solutions to problems that are not fully constrained
  • Has insight into changing technology and evolving competitive threats to continuously improve and refine product and solution offerings in a fast-changing market
  • Acts as a technical resource and demonstrate a high standard of leadership by actively developing and mentoring less experienced staff and new hires
  • Coordinates Regional Solutions Engineering resources to maintain workload balance, manage modeling queue in coordination with Regional Sales Mgr (RSM), and gather requirements for modeling tool development needs
  • Leads collaborative efforts around team members, translating organization vision and strategy into action and sub goals.
  • Builds a network across the organization to solve business issues and positively influences those around them.

May be located in Boston region . Site walks of facilities within those regions may be required.

What You'll Do at Enel:

  • Highly flexible in day-to-day activities easily moving from direct customer interface, to sales support, to engineering engagement and interaction with key stakeholders. Excels in diverse roles including system modeling and design as well as customer and channel partners interactions
  • Support a team of Sales and Business Development professionals in the solutions sales process for behind the meter DER solutions.
  • Conduct project analysis including modeling of technical solution, calculation of expected economic performance and generation of customer facing cash and financed offers as required.
  • Visit customer sites to identify customer requirements, gather energy data and inspect existing equipment and configurations in order to make pre-sales solutions recommendations
  • Serve as the leader and organizer of a particular region’s solutions engineering team, mentoring less senior team members and translating regional needs to the manager or director
  • Work in close coordination with key technical contacts within the Engineering and Operations organizations; supports site level pre-engineering and pre-design
  • Contributes to the development of technical documentation, webinar presentations, and articles on products, services, and applications as part of Enel X thought leadership initiatives
  • Provide technical training to Enel X channel partners with a focus on enabling partners to successfully represent Enel X solutions to end customers, as well as internal technical training to the sales organization as needed
  • Understand and navigate regulations, permitting standards and facility impacts of behind the meter DERs
  • Delivers expert product demonstrations utilizing product knowledge blended with customer needs and insights gained through industry experience
  • Aid the product management teams define and prioritize proposed new product capabilities.
  • Support channel partner relationships with OEMs specializing in DER assets and/or control technologies with the intent to develop repeatable and scalable product solutions.
  • Be an industry-expert on the energy market, incentives, value streams, competitors, customer value proposition, and business case
  • Develops regional market subject matter expertise with utility grid services programs such as demand response, virtual power plants, ancillary services and similar emerging opportunities to monetize distributed energy resources assets
  • Co-develops strategy and associated tactics for closing Enel X business within a team environment for a defined geographic region. Focuses diligently on enabling the sales team to exceed customer expectations and successfully positions Enel X as the vendor of choice

Who You Are:

  • Located in assigned territory to enable regular close contact with key customers, vendors and stakeholders
  • Self-motivated, comfortable operating without day-to-day direction
  • Strong customer focus, with unwavering attention to safety and quality
  • Ability to work in teams, in a fast-paced environment
  • Experienced in customer training
  • Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office tools, including (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Access)
  • Strong business and technical analytical skills required
  • Thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into technical and operational requirements.
  • Project management skills including ability to multitask, prioritize, set and meet deadlines, work independently, and perform tasks with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Travel required up to 25% of the time and up to 10% of the travel will be outside assigned area.

What You've Accomplished:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related technical degree. MS degree in Engineering, or related technical degree preferred.
  • 6+ years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in a customer-facing role such as solutions engineering, sales engineering, application engineering, field engineering or other technical support role
  • 3+ years of demonstrated technical experience in distributed generation in a commercial and industrial context strongly preferred, but at least a related field such as energy efficiency or energy management.
