What Application Development & Maintenance contributes to Cardinal Health

Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.

Application Development & Maintenance performs configuration or coding to develop, enhance and sustain the organization's software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. This job family programs and configures end user applications, systems, databases and websites to achieve the organization's internal needs and externally-facing business needs. Application Development & Maintenance partners with business leaders, investigates user needs and conducts regular assessments, maintenance and enhancements of existing applications.

Job Summary

Engineer serves as a subject matter expert (SME) related to Workday HR business processes, system functionality, and configuration capabilities. This position will play a role in the implementation and support of systems initiatives and participate in vendor evaluations and assessments. Work with internal teams to gather and validate business requirements and recommend solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for designing, developing, implementing and supporting applications, systems and IT products required to achieve the company's business objectives.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of software development techniques and fluency in software languages and application programming interfaces.
  • Demonstrates general understanding of hardware/software platforms including but not limited to operating systems, databases, application servers, web servers and integration technologies.
  • Plans and executes system implementations that ensure success and minimize risk of system outages or other negative production impacts.
  • Demonstrates conceptual knowledge of architecture standards and database and operating systems.
  • Demonstrates problem solving ability that allows for effective and timely resolution of system issues including but not limited to production outages.
  • Analyze system functionality that will help drive more efficient processes and provide and communicate recommendations to HR and the business on new solutions.
  • Ability to anticipate End to End impacts for new/modified functionality starting from data entry to downstream data flow and encompass broader than supported Workday application.
  • Develop and configure flexible solutions that are extensible to future business needs in areas of HCM and Workday Time Tracking.
  • Collaborate with HRIS to implement enhancements in Workday Time Tracking for HR related processes.
  • Analyze, define, and communicate touchpoints with HRIS to eliminate any downstream impacts to other business areas such as payroll, integrations and/or reporting.
  • Workday System Configuration: HCM, Payroll, Recruiting, Time Tracking, Security.
  • Provide technical oversight of managed service IT run partners as it relates to HR HCM and HR data integration.
  • Collaborate with Human Resource clients as well as other EIT teams.
  • HRIT governance and security policy adherence.
  • Participate and remediate any SOX audit requirements.
  • May contribute to the development of policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • 4-8 years of experience, preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communications.
  • Strong Leadership skills.
  • 2-3 years’ experience supporting a SaaS application, preferred.
  • Global Experience in a HR HCM system, preferred.
  • Experience with Workday Time Tracking, preferred.
  • Experience with Accu-Time, preferred.
  • Agile Methodology experience, preferred.
