Who You Are:


As a SaaS Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for the State & Local GBU you play a critical role in designing, building, and operating a highly distributed SaaS software solution that requires high availability and scalability. As a remote SRE, you not only follow best practices, standards, and processes employed by the team, but feel comfortable contributing to them as well. You have strong communication skills with a penchant for radiating information. You work as a member of our cross-discipline development team continuously collaborating with Software Developers and Software Developers in Test of your team. You are responsible in ensuring our services and systems are designed and built with reliability, scalability, and observability as a critical feature. You author and maintain operational run books to reduce Time of Incidents (TOI) and manage and triage operational tickets pertaining to the data platform services. You have a strong pulse on the cloud development community keeping up on news and changes as they come.


Qualifications:




  • 5+ years of Site Reliability Engineer experience is required




  • Development experience is preferred




  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with the following:




  • Linux/Unix development (Oracle Linux preferred)




  • Oracle database, MySQL (experience with MS SQL and/or NoSQL is a plus)




  • CI/CD (Jenkins and GitLab CI)




  • Containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos)




  • Infrastructure Automation (Terraform, Chef, Ansible, Puppet)




  • Cloud computing platform (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Services)




  • Programming and scripting languages (Java, JavaScript, Typescript, Python, Bash, and/or Go is a plus)




  • Git version-control and collaboration (GitLab)




  • Issue tracking and collaboration (Jira and Confluence)




  • Product/Service ownership or Project Management experience a plus




  • System Administration (Linux internals, TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing)




  • Experience working with fault tolerant, highly available, high throughput, distributed, scalable systems




  • Experience with Monitory and Observability technologies like Prometheus, Grafana, Fluentd, Elasticsearch, Kibana or equivalent




  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with individuals across the organization




  • A systems thinker, able to move fluidly between high-level abstract thinking and detail-oriented implementation; open minded to new ideas, approaches, and possesses the technical ability to implement ideas




  • Experience working with Agile development frameworks




  • A self-starter that is naturally inquisitive, requiring only small pieces to the puzzle, across many technologies new and legacy




Responsibilities


What you will do:




  • Design, write, and deploy software to improve the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Oracle products and services.




  • Solve complex problems related to infrastructure cloud services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence.




  • Develop designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems.




  • Facilitate service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.




  • Work as a member of the development team and share full stack ownership of a collection of services and/or technology area.




  • Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services.




  • Articulate technical characteristics of services and technology areas and guide development teams to engineer and add capabilities to internal Oracle services.




  • Act as ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).




  • Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and the dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations.




  • Understand and explain the effect of product architecture decisions on distributed systems.




  • Serve as part of a 24x7 On Call rotation in support of the Public Safety SaaS Suite




  • Professional curiosity and a desire to a develop deep understanding of services and technologies.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated location(s)


California Pay Range: from $95,900 to $192,000 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.


Colorado Pay Range: from $77,700 to $172,800 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.


New York City Pay Range: from $90,600 to $182,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.


Washington Pay Range: from $93,100 to $182,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.


Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.


Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
