Become a Senior Land Survey Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow.  In this job, you’ll plan, prep and prioritize the work of SCE Land Survey crews.  This person will be responsible for researching previous survey evidence, managing the historical survey GIS database, performing quality control checks of research packages/field deliverables.  This person will also support the mapping team with producing overall Land Survey deliverables.  As a Senior Land Survey Specialist, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Responsible for coordinating /assigning work to SCE Land Survey field crews.
  • Produces/reviews, research and coordinate Survey crew scheduling.
  • Analyzes land, cadastral, geodetic surveys, and right of way engineering.
  • Produces calculations and instructions for field work.
  • Assists Land Survey manager with the development, revisions and enforcement of Land Survey standards and procedures.

The essentials

  • Five or more years of Land Surveying experience.
  • One or more years of experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or Carlson.
  • Registered Land Surveyor In-Training (LSIT) certification.
  • Valid driver’s license. 

The required

  • Bachelors’ degree in Surveying, Geomatics or related engineering field.
  • Experience using Total Station and collecting GPS data. 
  • Three or more years of experience as a Survey Party Chief. 
  • Experience with high precision vertical and horizontal control networks and geographic information systems.
  • Proficient with Trimble Business Center (TBC) and COGO capabilities to assist the survey crews.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in Survey data processing, adjustments and error theory.

  • Work Mode: When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
